‘Difficult’ Tom Hardy’s MobLand Status Gets New Update Amid Rumors

A new report suggests that Tom Hardy was not fired from MobLand and might possibly return for Season 3. For those unversed, previous rumors hinted that Hardy had a falling out with the producers. However, as per a new report, the 48-year-old actor and makers are working to resolve their creative differences.

Tom Hardy reportedly not fired from MobLand, source suggests

A new report by Variety states that Tom Hardy was not fired from MobLand. Sources tied to the outlet claim that discussions are ongoing to find a way for Hardy to return to the series. “Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively,” a source claimed.

Notably, MobLand is developed by Ronan Bennett. It is produced by David Glasser’s 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios. Moreover, Guy Ritchie serves as one of the executive producers. He has also directed a number of episodes across both seasons. The insider further claimed, “I’m sure Guy is probably pushing David Glasser to make it work. Guy likes working with Tom.”

Previously, multiple outlets reported that several reasons were tied to Hardy’s alleged departure from MobLand. The cause of the supposed fallout was reportedly a combination of factors. One of the reasons was said to be the Venom star’s reported on-set tardiness. Additionally, reports claimed that the actor insisted on rewriting scenes. However, insiders stated that there was “apparently fault on both sides,” as per Variety.

A second production source stated, “He’s difficult, but he’s a movie star.” Other insiders reportedly pointed out that the tensions could have been resolved amicably earlier had the media not inflamed them further.

Variety also reported that Hardy was unhappy with the way the show functioned and how he was sometimes given the script late, which did not allow him an ample amount of time to prepare. “Tom likes to prepare,” the second production source shared.

The show is yet to be officially greenlit for Season 3, but if it were to be renewed, it seems Hardy’s appearance remains a question until confirmation comes from the makers.
