With summer now officially on its way, and temperatures having soared past 35C in parts of the UK, it’s little surprise that people are eager to spend their days at their nearest beach.

Since Britain is an island, residents have their fair share of beaches to pick from when they’re planning their coastal daytrip or staycation, from the iconic pebble beach down in Brighton, up to the dramatic, cliff-backed shores up in the Scottish Highlands. But if you’re looking for the best on in the UK, some say it can be found in Wales.

Taking to TikTok, one Welsh mother has shared her experience of visiting this celebrated spot for a cosy family walk with her partner and two children, as she went on to show viewers the gorgeous views.

“Can’t beat that initial beach walk Traeth Llanddwyn,” they wrote in the caption of the video, which was shared onto TikTok.

The video starts with the family making their way through sand dunes of fine, golden sand before the path reveals the vast beach stretching out to meet a brilliant blue sea on the horizon.

Beyond, breathtaking views of Eryri (also known as Snowdonia) can also be spotted. The beach appears almost entirely deserted, with just a single other visitor visible, as the family and their dogs made their way along the shore to settle in for a leisurely day by the sea.

It’s a breathtaking 3.5-mile expanse of white sand, running from Ynys Llanddwyn (Llanddwyn Island) in the west to Abermenai Point in the east. It has also been crowned the UK’s best beach by Time Out Magazine.

Set against the scenic Newborough Forest, it provides panoramic views of Eryri and boasts the historic, tidal Ynys Llanddwyn, offering spectacular vistas as you soak up your day by the sea.

Located on Anglesey, and specifically on Ynys Llanddwyn, the location is home to the church of St Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers, and a striking lighthouse known as Goleudy Tŵr Mawr.

It was recently thrust further into the spotlight after appearing in House of the Dragon. The dramatic coastline and craggy outcrops have been utilised to portray the mythical shores of Dragonstone and serve as the setting for legendary sequences such as the “Battle of the Gullet”, making it all the more captivating for devotees to explore.

Parking for Llanddwyn Island is available at Newborough Beach car park, operated by Natural Resources Wales, with fees applicable. This summer there are fresh payment options and discounts for local residents.

People swiftly flocked to the comment section to express their own views, as many were left astonished to discover the stunning beach.

“Beautiful Llanddwyn beach , Newborough is the forest and village,” one person said. A second person wrote: “I’ve been there it’s beautiful.”

A third user commented: “There’s no way that is in the uk your lying I thought our water was brown.”
