Pokémon fans haven’t given up on Johto, even if it feels like the franchise as a whole has mostly been ignoring the Gen 2 region lately. Pokémon Gold and Silver gave us some memorable games, and Gen 2 includes some truly iconic Pokémon, so it’s no wonder fans are still fond of Johto.
For the dedicated fans of the Gen 2 games’ region, there’s a cool new official release that recently launched. Over on Pokémon Center, you can snag Johto Region Paired Pikachu Poké Plush, which features two Pikachu side by side in Johto gear. Yes, it’s adorable, and yes, it’s great to see Johto getting any kind of love lately. However, this new plush is also surprisingly affordable.
Priced at $34.99 on Pokémon Center, the Johto Region Paired Pikachu Poké Plush (pictured above) will net you two Pikachu plushes, both standing at 6.5 inches tall. Side by side, this plush duo is around 9.5 inches in width. This was originally a part of the 25th Celebration Poké Plush collection in 2021, so it’s really nice to see it re-releasing this year for the 30th anniversary as well.
The Pikachu are dressed in character attire from Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver, making them the perfect gift for the Johto fan in your life. Or, if you’re that Johto fan, you can purchase it for yourself.
As we approach the 30th anniversary for the Gen 2 games, it’s a bit surprising how long it’s been since we’ve gotten anything focused on Johto. Rumors of Gen 2 remakes have been floating around for quite some time, and a Legends: Johto game has been rumored pretty much ever since Legends: Arceus was announced. The follow-up, Legends: Z-A, really did nothing to quash those rumors, with plenty of fans convinced it’ll be Johto’s turn next.
While there’s still no word whether a new version of Gold and Silver is in the works, it’s at least cool to see official merchandise still giving the Gen 2 region some attention. The Johto Region Paired Pikachu Poké Plush is a fun way to celebrate your love for Gen 2, and it’s always nice to have a couple of Pikachu to adorn your shelves.
Right now, the plush is still available at Pokémon Center, but it’s exclusive to that storefront, so once it sells out, it’ll seemingly be gone for good. Here’s hoping we’ll get a remake of the Gen 2 Pokémon games soon.
