It’s not a secret anymore. Zombie 5: Secrets of the Sea began filming in Auckland, New Zealand.
The upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie is set for release sometime in 2027. An exact release date has not yet been announced.
It is a sequel to the 2018 film Zombies, starring Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim. The film focused on a group of zombies attending a regular high school in a town where they had uniformity and traditions.
When zombie football player Zed (Manheim) falls in love with cheerleader Addison (Donnelly), chaos ensues, and they have to try to get their groups to coexist together. Throughout the franchise, Addison discovered her true identity (an alien) while facing off against other creatures such as werewolves, vampires, and aliens, all while trying to survive high school.
The fourth movie, Dawn of the Vampires, ushered in a new era for the franchise. Zed and Addison graduated from high school, and both attended different summer camps. When their travel goes awry, they find two new groups of creatures: Daywalkers and Vampires.
The new movie starred Malachi Barton as Victor and Freya Skye as Nove Bright, the leaders of their groups. Those actors will take on leading roles in the fifth installment while Donnelly and Manheim serve as executive producers, but will not be featured in the film.
Not much is known about the upcoming film, but judging by the title, the cast may encounter mermaids or other creatures that live in the water.
