A new week means new free games for you to download and play via Steam. Despite the recent hardware price hikes, gaming on a budget is arguably easier than ever before if you know where to look, and are okay with picking more interesting indie games over the usual AAA heavy hitters.
While the latest free games available on Steam aren’t exactly the same profile as 007 First Light or LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, there are some real diamonds in the rough for you to check out. June 2026 has been no different so far. And while I have no doubt your backlog begs for the sweet embrace of death, let’s chuck four more new games onto the pile. Why? Because they’re free. And free is always good.
At the time of writing, there are four new free games available to download and keep on Steam. These are full games, not locked behind any kind of subscription or paywall. I can’t promise you’ll get hundreds of hours of gameplay from them, but you might just have a good time with one or two of them.
First up is 67 Minutes In Heaven, a 10-minute horror game designed to make you feel very uncomfortable indeed. “Your neighbor invites you on a double date, setting you up with the new girl from out of town,” reads the synopsis. “After sneaking into an abandoned house, your neighbor suggests everyone play a game, 67 Minutes in Heaven.”
If that’s not really your speed, you might consider taking a look at Nexus Legacy. This is a sci-fi strategy game in which you’ll colonize worlds, manage resources, research technologies, command fleets, forge alliances, and fight for control of a living galaxy. It’s only been out for a few days, but user reviews are largely positive so far.
If you want to get involved with the World Cup hype, you can try out Goalkeeper Journey. This one is pretty simple, really: you take on the role of a goalkeeper and attempt to stop people from getting the ball in your goal. Not a huge amount to it, but a decent little time killer for sure.
Finally, there’s the fantasy RPG Eterspire, which is definitely the meatiest of the free offerings so far this month. “Eterspire is a cozy old-school MMORPG where skill and dedication define your progression,” the developer Stonehollow Workship explains. “Grind for gear, explore the vibrant world of Aetera, discover new content every two weeks, and join a growing, welcoming community in a free-to-play MMO with PC and mobile crossplay.”
There we have it. If you have Steam and some time to kill, you could do a lot worse than check out some of these games.
