Starz Releases Teaser for Prequel to 4-Part Crime Thriller Series

Starz completed its split from Lionsgate last year and has been reshaping itself as a leaner operation. Now that Outlander has finished its final season, and with Blood of My Blood still finding its footing, the 50 Cent-produced crime saga, Power, has quietly become the most valuable asset in Starz’s lineup.

Power originally ran for six seasons and remains one of the highest-rated shows in the network’s history. Every spin-off since has delivered reliable numbers. So it is not especially surprising that one of Starz’s biggest swings in 2026 goes back to that well, and fans have now gotten their first real look at the new series. Starz has released a teaser and new photos for Power: Origins. The first look includes Spence Moore as Ghost, Charlie Mann as Tommy, and MeKai Curtis back as Kanan Stark after playing the character across four seasons of Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

The teaser is brief, so anyone waiting for a full trailer will need to be patient a little longer. This marks the first time the franchise’s central trio has appeared on screen together in their younger years, long before the events that set the original series in motion. Ghost and Tommy were famously played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora, so Moore and Mann are stepping into two of the roles most closely identified with in the entire universe. Curtis has already shown he can carry a younger version of an established character, but recasting Ghost and Tommy comes much closer to the core of the brand than any previous spin-off has tried. Per the official logline:

“Power: Origins will continue to explore the Power universe in fresh and compelling ways, delving into the action-packed origin story of fan-favorite characters Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan as ambitious young entrepreneurs on the rise, determined to make their mark on the streets of New York City. A fun, rambunctious exploration of a new time period in the Power franchise, Power: Origins will highlight the unbridled audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game.”

Origins is the fourth spin-off to come out of the original Power, after Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force. It won’t be the last either, since Starz has already ordered a fifth series, Power: Legacy, to pick up the modern-day story once Force is done. There’s a fair question about how many origin stories a single universe can sustain.

The franchise now spans multiple decades and timelines, and prequels carry an inherent limitation because viewers already know where everyone ends up. If Origins can match the character work of Raising Kanan rather than just retracing familiar beats, Starz will have exactly what it needs. If not, the universe may finally be testing the limits of its own mythology.
