The only thing better than finding a great romantic comedy to watch is finding one that is also free! With all the streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Max raising their prices over time and cutting out some of our favorite feature films and series, it is nice to know that good ol’ YouTube still has our backs with free rom-coms. Now, just because things are free does not mean they are lower in quality. These films have great plots and fantastic actors, but they have already had their time in the spotlight.

‘Just My Luck’ (2006)
Two Baby Blues and a Lot of Bad Luck
Chris Pine and Lindsay Lohan know a bit about feeling like they’re on top of cloud nine as well as feeling as if everything in the world is against them in Just My Luck. Lohan plays Ashley, a young woman who thinks the world revolves around her as little coincidences always make great things happen. Pine, on the other hand, plays Jake, a guy who just can’t seem to catch a break. When the two meet at a party and kiss, their luck switches over, and naturally, Ashley tracks Jake down to get her luck back.
Lohan and Pine have great chemistry, as they are both allowed and encouraged to be cringy goofs when they find themselves down on their luck. Lohan is no stranger to the rom-com genre or acting like a spoiled princess, and Pine is a natural when it comes to getting women to fall in love with him — just look at those baby blue eyes. Everything within this film is predictable, sure, but it’s fun seeing characters deal with small, gross, and relatable inconveniences. Watch Here.

‘The Accidental Husband’ (2008)
The Most Polite Love Triangle Ever Filmed
In The Accidental Husband, Emma (Uma Thurman), a supposed love expert, is all set and ready to marry her fiancé Richard (Colin Firth); however, a complete stranger to Emma has other plans up his sleeve. In revenge for his own failed engagement, Patrick (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) fabricates a marriage license with Emma’s name on it to ruin her wedding. When the two meet, they have no idea that this elaborate plan will actually bring them much closer than they ever imagined.
There are plenty of romantic comedies that deal with love triangles, but none are quite as amicable as this one. Richard and Patrick are never really at odds with one another, and when Emma is forced to make a life-altering decision, her would-be groom is supportive and respectful of her deciding what will make her the happiest.

‘First Daughter’ (2004)
The Secret Service Makes a Terrible Wingman
Always being in the public eye cannot be easy, and all Sam Mackenzie (Katie Holmes) wants, in First Daughter, is to be seen as an average girl rather than the President of the United States’ daughter. When Sam gets the chance to go to college in California, she embraces the space from the White House, but to her dismay, many Secret Service agents go with her. Sam ends up falling for a guy named James (Marc Blucas), but after needing to evacuate a party, she learns that James is just an undercover agent hired by her father.
If you’re looking for a predictable romantic comedy that will make you laugh, but does not require too much energy and attention, then look no further than First Daughter. Holmes gives a charming performance, and her annoyance with her overprotective father (played by Michael Keaton) is all too relatable.

‘Stuck in Love’ (2012)
A Family of Writers, All Terrible at Love
In Stuck in Love, Bill (Greg Kinnear) is still in love with his ex-wife Erica (Jennifer Connelly), but their children, Sam (Lily Collins) and Rusty (Nat Wolff), as well as Bill’s friends-with-benefits neighbor, Tricia (Kristen Bell), urge him to move on. While constantly stalking his ex, Bill makes sure to be as involved with his kids’ lives as he can be. Unfortunately, they would like some space from their slightly overbearing father as they make their own mistakes in relationships and grow from them.
Stuck in Love is incredible for two reasons: the cast is amazingly talented, and the film addresses real problems on a variety of levels. Rather than being the typical quirky and predictable romantic comedy, the movie hits on harsh topics. For instance, Rusty’s crush has a drug addiction that is talked about, and Sam has commitment issues at a rather young age. While some lighthearted jokes are made about certain scenarios, the characters address these problems with seriousness and look for sound solutions.

‘The Rebound’ (2009)
The Age Gap Is the Least of Their Problems
After leaving her husband and moving with her two children to New York City, Sandy (Catherine Zeta-Jones) meets and quickly befriends a barista named Aram (Justin Bartha), who doesn’t have a clue what he wants to do with his life. Despite their 15-year age difference, the two get romantically involved, but a miscarriage leads to arguments about a long-term relationship. The pair go their separate ways, but fate decides they need to come back together just a few years later.
Almost everyone has experience or knows someone who has done the whole “rebound thing,” and it has become such a humorous trope in movies because either the situation goes horribly wrong or the pair end up finding that they want more than just a one-night stand. In The Rebound, Zeta-Jones and Bartha’s characters are all too relatable with Sandy’s genuine concerns about Aram’s potential role as a father and the latter’s go-with-the-flow attitude that most 20-somethings tend to have.

‘It’s a Boy Girl Thing’ (2006)
Enemies to Lovers, With an Aztec Twist
In It’s a Boy Girl Thing, Woody (Kevin Zegers) and Nell (Samaire Armstrong) are former childhood friends and neighbors who have grown up to despise one another. After arguing in front of an ancient Aztec statue, the two awake the next morning in one another’s bodies. They try their best to fit in as the other, and by doing so, they realize what their lives are really like below the surface. Woody and Nell not only rekindle their friendship through this little secret, but they realize they want to be more than friends once they switch back into their own bodies.
The concept of body-swapping is always fun in comedy films because not only do audiences get to see the chaos unfold as the characters desperately try to act normal while getting used to new things. Notably, Nell certainly learns about what happens to teenage boys in the morning, but they always come to some sort of understanding about the other person.

‘They Came Together’ (2014)
Every Rom-Com Cliché at Once, on Purpose
Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler star in They Came Together, a film that takes every romantic comedy trope you can name and cheerfully runs it into the ground. Joel works for a giant corporate candy company, Molly runs the tiny sweet shop his employer wants to crush, and New York City is described as being “almost like another character” roughly a dozen times. Ed Helms turns up as Molly’s sweetly boring accountant boyfriend, and Bill Hader and Ellie Kemper bookend the whole thing as the couple listening to this story over dinner.
Director David Wain clearly adores the genre he is skewering, which is exactly why the parody works instead of feeling mean. If you have seen enough rom-coms to know precisely what happens after the big misunderstanding, this one rewards you for it, delivering the most gleeful send-up of the genre since Airplane! did the same to disaster movies.

‘Hope Springs’ (2003)
A Broken Heart and a Very Small Town
In Hope Springs, English painter Colin (Colin Firth) flees to the tiny American town of Hope, Vermont, after his fiancée Vera (Minnie Driver) dumps him. Nursing his wounded pride in a run-down motel, he meets Mandy (Heather Graham), a warm and unfussy local nurse who agrees to model for him and quickly becomes something more. Naturally, just as Colin starts to move on, Vera turns up in Hope determined to win him back.
Firth is doing what Firth does best here, playing the beautifully repressed Englishman adrift among friendly Americans who cannot quite figure him out. Graham brings genuine warmth to a role that could have been thankless, and the film’s small-town setting gives the whole thing a cozy, low-stakes charm that makes it perfect background viewing on a rainy afternoon.

‘What If’ (2013)
The Friend Zone, Handled With Actual Wit
Daniel Radcliffe plays Wallace, a medical school dropout who has sworn off relationships, in What If. At a party, he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan), an animator with a razor-sharp sense of humor and, unfortunately for Wallace, a long-term boyfriend named Ben (Rafe Spall). The two become genuine friends, which works right up until it obviously does not, and Wallace has to decide whether to say something or keep quietly torturing himself.
Radcliffe and Kazan have the kind of easy, rapid-fire chemistry that makes you believe these two would actually seek each other out. What sets the film apart is that it treats both people as adults with real dilemmas rather than obstacles in a plot, and Adam Driver steals every scene he is in as Wallace’s gloriously unfiltered best friend.
