‘Severance’ Set Photos Confirm the Return of Apple TV’s Near-Perfect Sci-Fi Series

Severance Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger that doesn’t bode well for Lumon’s Severed employees. The show had steadily escalated the tension up until the season finale’s deeply disturbing culmination, which spurred wild theories about what happens next to Innie Mark, Dylan, and Helly now that their tasks are complete. Plot details for Season 3 remain under wraps, but new photos hint that everything will remain business as usual at Lumon even as it deals with the aftermath of a bloody mutiny.

Filming for Severance Season 3 has officially ramped up per the Asbury Park Press, as seen in new photos of location sets staged in and around the Bell Works building in Holmdel, New Jersey. A real-life commercial and corporate space, the sprawling complex served as the setting for Lumon HQ since Season 1, and has since become a must-visit destination for fans of the series. One photo confirms that filming started on Aug. 24 and will extend all the way to Sept. 11, hinting at an extended shoot that could include critical scenes.

The behind-the-scenes images offer sneak peeks of the production crew filming inside the complex, and actors were spotted wearing Lumon Industries badges. It appears they were filming establishing shots of Lumon’s upper offices, because nothing about the setups resembles the brutalist halls and rooms of the Severed Floor, the Testing Floor, or the intermediate levels.

The update should fuel hope that the new season would release sooner than Seasons 1 and 2, which premiered in 2022 and 2025, respectively. Both suffered production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023. Earlier this week, lead star Adam Scott revealed they have been filming Season 3 for the past few weeks, which tracks with executive producer Ben Stiller’s cryptic social media post in July.

Speaking with the Today Show, Scott was pressed to tease what’s in store for his character, Mark S./Mark Scout, in Season 3. Scott was noncommittal as expected, but it became increasingly evident that each of Mark’s split personalities saw the other as an existential threat toward the Season 2 finale. Mark S., or Innie Mark, chose self-preservation in the end, and Season 3 is expected to explore the consequences of that decision.

Severance has garnered a strong following after two seasons and has now become one of Apple TV’s most popular flagship offerings. Overwhelmingly well-received by critics and audiences with a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show led the 2025 Emmy Awards with 27 nominations and 8 wins, including an Outstanding Lead Actress award for Britt Lower, and an Outstanding Supporting Actor award for Tramell Tillman. Scott, Lower, Tillman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette are expected to reprise their roles in Season 3, but the series could also introduce new key players from Lumon’s management and possibly even rival industries.
