Nothing says autumn in the UK like lacing up your boots, popping a coat on and heading out on a walk. It’s even better if you know that at the end of your wander there’s a cosy pub waiting where you can relax with a pint, having got your steps in and seen the beautiful countryside.
To find out where the best walks are in the UK the experts at Beavertown analysed user ratings and reviews of some of the countries most popular walking tracks to find the best of the best. With the weather now starting to cool off, it’s a great time to start planning your weekend walks. In first place is the Seaford to Eastbourne route located in East Sussex, which has a 4.8 star rating across more than 2,000 reviews.
This whopping 21.7km is not an easy wander however. The coastal path is rated as “hard” and it takes around six hours to complete. If you’re up to it, you will be rewarded with spectacular views over the Seven Sisters cliffs and Beachy Head before the trail drops down into Eastbourne, where there’s no shortage of cosy pubs to celebrate your efforts in.
In second place is the Derbyshire Grindsbrook Clough and Grindslow Knoll Circular, located in the Peak District. This 6.9 loop begins and finishes in Edale where you will climb a steep track through Grindsbrook before descending back in to the village where several country pubs await your arrival.
This track has a 4.7 star rating across almost a thousand reviews and is a gorgeous walk to undertake – as long as you can handle the scramble to the top.
Rounding out the top three is Flamborough Coastal Circuit in the East Riding of Yorkshire with a rating of 4.7 stars across 522 reviews.
A long, 17.5km walk rated “hard”, this walk will take around four and a half to five hours – but you will see some of the country’s most spectacular chalk cliffs. The walk takes you past Flamborough Head lighthouse before you finish back in the village where you can reward yourself with a pint.
