Welcome back, Below Deck Mediterranean fans! Last week, Captain Sandy threw Aesha a bachelorette party with several surprise guests. Elsewhere, Max did his best to weigh the pros and cons of Nathan’s shady offer. But after learning that his dad was “enrolled into, like, a criminal organization of laundering money,” Nathan became the least of his worries. And now, Max might be leaving the yacht for Libya on a dangerous rescue mission during Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 Episode 13.
What happened in Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 Episode 13?
Max makes a big decision about his future, while tensions boil over between Joe and Nathan. Everyone is actually feeling the pressure, though, thanks to a storm and a disastrous event involving one of the co-primary charter guests. On the bright side, Aesha is back in the interior department. And her team really appreciates that. Especially Gen.
Max leaves Below Deck Med Season 11
Max decides his fate right away; he is leaving to help his dad. Thankfully, for the crew, the timing works out. The weather is turning. So the boat has to stay docked anyway.
Aesha returns to the interior department. Joy reads over her preference sheets for the next guests. Apparently, Jeff, the co-primary, might be a “pain in [her] ass.”
The deck team is down two deckhands now, since Nathan isn’t cleared for manual labor just yet. He himself said so last week. Joe remembers hearing this too, but Nathan still insists, “I’m not down.” In his confessional, Nathan adds, “[Joe] can try to play with me mentally, but it’s not going to phase me.”
The interior team has the right idea at least. Being stuck at the dock sucks. They hope to liven things up with a cooking class, if Joy agrees (she does).
Back to the drama. Trash is gathering on the dock. Captain Sandy asks Joe to remove it, but Joe is no longer the bosun, so he has to get clearance from Nathan first before stepping away from the boat. “You don’t know how it is,” Joe explains.
She tells him to go anyway, and then she radios for Nathan. His team should not have to ask permission to do their jobs, Captain Sandy says, and she asks Nathan to make that clear to them. Nathan says he will. In his talking head, Nathan says Joe is purposefully not taking initiative to try and make him look bad.
Max leaves the yacht to “extract” his dad “out of the country.” Godspeed, Max.
Captain Sandy scolds Nathan and Joe
Joe wants to put “more line in.” He asks Nathan if he is “happy with that.” Nathan thinks they are tight enough, so he sends Joe downstairs to change into his whites instead. Not related, but absolutely related, the camera pans to Captain Sandy in the wheelhouse, singing, “There’s a storm coming!”
Joe wants a reason to be mad at Nathan, Cooper thinks. Right on cue, we see Nathan telling Joe, “If you see something that needs doing, take initiative and do it.” But Joe remembers differently. Everything needs to “go through” Nathan first, Joe remembers Nathan saying.
Whoopsie, Captain Sandy hears everything. She walks outside and tells them both to “stop being so petty.”
The next group, the “baddest f*cking personal injury lawyers in Orlando,” approach the yacht. Captain Sandy breaks the bad news about staying on the dock. Naturally, they hate that. Jeff in particular seems to hate it the most.
He asks, “So the weather, did it just come up suddenly?” Captain Sandy says yes, and then she offers them a tender cruise instead. They take her up on it. On the tender, Jeff remains unconvinced, because “the waves and wind don’t seem bad.”
Gen heads outside with drinks to greet them, but one by one, her glasses tip over and break. Her wrist is bad, she admits. But that’s okay, because Kasandra is already tipsy, and Jeff is getting annoyed with her.
Max calls to say he is on the plane, and Captain Sandy reminds him to head to an embassy as soon as he lands. Then, Aesha leads the guests through a bartending class, and Joy follows up with a cooking demonstration, smartly having the guests help prepare something off their dinner menu for later that night.
A new deckhand joins the yacht
Nathan overhears Joe and Cooper talking. He wishes Joe “would have a pair of balls” to say things to his face. Inside, the female guests and crew throw a fashion show, and for the first time, Jeff smiles and lets loose.
But during dinner, Jeff chokes. He heads to his cabin and throws up, right as Captain Sandy ushers Nathan off the yacht for a chat. She encourages Nathan to pull Joe aside for “a chat.” They head back inside as Jeff returns to the table, telling everyone his sink is clogged now.
Kayley and Nathan clear it while dying a little on the inside. Then, Nathan pulls Joe aside. Joe confesses that Nathan’s short temper makes things hard for him and Cooper. Nathan heads to Cooper, who confirms, but he also understands where Nathan is coming from.
In the morning, the weather clears, and news comes about a new deckhand. Yay! But after the yacht comes off the dock, Nathan overhears Joe talking to Kayley. Nathan questions Kayley, and later, he confronts Joe.
Is Joe trying to turn people against him? No, Joe says, that’s just Nathan’s insecurities talking. Nathan asks, “Insecurities?” Nah, Joe has those, Nathan thinks.
“Hide your kids, hide your sheets,” Gen sings, because the new deckhand, whose face we can’t yet see, is here. And if he is any good, “Joe, you’re f*cked,” Nathan tells the camera.
