‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 Trailer Officially Confirms Streaming Return Date

He’s back and sharper than ever. Paramount+ released a 40-second teaser for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, showing Dexter during an eye exam and, of course, sharpening weapons. This can only mean one thing — Dexter is now up against something more sinister than ever before — aging.

The cryptic teaser also revealed that Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection will premiere on Paramount+ on Oct. 30 (just in time for Halloween). Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 saw Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) awaken from a coma after being shot by his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott) — the cliffhanger that brought New Blood to a close. After ten weeks of being comatose, Dexter heads to New York City to reunite with Harrison. This journey isn’t all smooth sailing though, and Dexter experiences hallucinations of past figures and also infiltrates a gathering of serial killers that is run by Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage). That’s not all either — Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas) tracks Dexter to New York to expose him as the Bay Harbor Butcher.

Dexter still has unfinished business heading into Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, particularly after Al Walker, a.k.a. the Rapunzel Killer (Eric Stonestreet), managed to escape his grasp. Krysten Ritter is also confirmed to return as Mia LaPierre, a.k.a. Lady Vengeance, despite the character being believed to have died in Season 1. When asked how Mia could possibly return, show runner Clyde Phillips told Entertainment Weekly, “Well, this is Dexter after all!” Meanwhile, Joey Quinn (Desmond Harrington) is investigating Bautista’s suspicious death. Having already developed suspicions about Dexter’s double life, Quinn could prove to be an unpredictable and rogue threat in Season 2.

Season 2 will also see Brian Cox as The New York Ripper, Dan Stevens as The Five Borough Killer, and Gabriel Luna as Ray Ballard, a.k.a. The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, all of whom were already teased as Dexter’s next marks in the Season 1 finale. Dexter’s past has a way of catching up with him, and Season 2 could see some familiar faces return, including Arthur Mitchell / The Trinity Killer (John Lithgow), Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smits), and Brian Moser (Christian Camargo). At least for now, though, Dexter appears to be in the right headspace, with his father, Harry (James Remar), by his side as his guide.

Although the second sequel in the franchise originally premiered just over a year ago in July 2025, Phillips confirmed that the second season will pick up three years after Season 1. The reason for the time jump being that Harrison could turn 21, which is the age of eligibility to join the NYPD as a police officer.
