Pokémon Winds & Waves Elite 4 Types Confirmed In New Leak

Pokémon Winds & Waves has seen a handful of surprising leaks since it was first announced earlier this year, offering fans a slightly clearer picture of Game Freak’s ambitious Gen 10 plans. Among the biggest is a potentially enormous Pokédex, with leaked development data reportedly containing 531 slots and more than 300 placeholders for new Pokémon.

Other leaks have pointed toward unique weather-based forms for Pokémon like Pikachu, Lucario, Arcanine, and Kecleon, alongside regional variants and final typings of Grass/Ground for Browt, Fire/Fairy for Pombon, and Water/Psychic for Gecqua.

Leaks have also suggested an overworld catching mechanic, dynamic weather that can change environments, and three interconnected stories spread across the game’s island-based open world. And while fans have been speculating about the Elite 4 types for a while a brand-new leak from Ball Guy has more or less confirmed the Elite Four, and it’s not what many players were expecting (via X).

According to the new leak, the Elite 4 types will be Grass, Fire, Water, and Electric, giving players a full-circle moment as these are also essentially the core starter types for every game in the franchise. Previously leaks suggested that the Elite 4 types would be something a little more exotic, such as Electric, Water, Bug, and Dragon, but these new reports seem reputable enough that it’s unlikely those previously rumored types are accurate.

The leak also provides specific unique story details on each Elite 4 member, with the Grass-type reportedly being the Champion’s right-hand man who keeps tabs on the player throughout the League Tour, giving him a more active role than a traditional endgame opponent. The Fire-type E4 is said to be a famous opera singer and longtime friend of the Champion, tying her story closely to the region’s upper ranks.

The Water-type is the youngest of the group and reportedly has a playful personality with a stricter side while also becoming one of the player’s strongest supporters. Finally, the Electric-type member, on the other hand, is described as a wealthy, sarcastic older man who secretly works as a merchant.

Though the details remain unconfirmed at this point, Ball Guy has established at least some credibility within the Pokémon leak community. Most notably, the account supported a description of the Winds & Waves starters before their official reveal, with those details ultimately lining up closely with the finished designs. Ball Guy has also previously shared information surrounding Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including details about Mega Evolutions and characters that were later corroborated, although the account’s overall track record is decidedly mixed.

That makes the latest Elite Four information worth paying attention to, but certainly not written in stone. Some Winds & Waves material also reportedly originates from older development files associated with the 2024 Game Freak breach, meaning even legitimate information could have changed during development. As always, any Pokémon leak should be taken with a healthy grain of salt until Game Freak or The Pokémon Company makes it official.
