Goya board betrays Bob Unanue, fierce advocate against Child Trafficking and Trump supporter.

On February 23, 2025, a major news bombshell rocked the business and conservative worlds: Bob Unanue, the iconic CEO of Goya Foods, was left in professional limbo after a secret vote by the company’s board of directors.

With 48 years of service and over 20 as president and CEO, Unanue received the news that his «employment» was in question, with no clear explanations or an official public announcement from Goya.

This dramatic turn not only jeopardizes the legacy of one of the most emblematic Hispanic companies in the United States but also appears to be an attempt to weaken a key crusade against child trafficking.

What is happening behind the doors of Goya Foods? Here, we break down the facts with rigor and a critical perspective.

Bob Unanue is not just any executive. He is the grandson of Prudencio and Carolina Unanue, who founded Goya in 1936, turning it into a cultural pillar for millions of Hispanics.

Under his leadership, the Jersey City, New Jersey-based company reached multibillion-dollar status, solidifying itself as the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States.

However, on February 23, according to a press release issued by PR Newswire, Unanue revealed that the board voted on his future without providing details on the reasons or the outcome.

The announcement gained traction yesterday when Unanue took to his X account to express his surprise:

Was he formally removed, or is he in some kind of corporate purgatory? What is clear is that this industry veteran, with half a century of experience, was not given the courtesy of a public explanation.

Beyond his business role, Unanue stood out as a fierce advocate for children who are victims of human trafficking.

During his tenure, he spearheaded Goya Cares, an initiative that not only raised funds—such as the $350,000 from the «Hydrate for Hope» campaign in January 2025—but also brought preventive education to schools and vulnerable communities.

Additionally, he served as executive producer of Sound of Freedom, a blockbuster film that exposed the dark world of child trafficking.

In a statement via PR Newswire, he reaffirmed his commitment:

«The uncertainty at Goya Foods will not deter me from raising awareness about the evils of child trafficking, and I will not rest until the more than 325,000 missing children over the past two years are found. As in the past, I will work with the current administration to put an end to this extremely lucrative yet purely evil industry,» Unanue said. «I will not be silenced. I will not yield to those who want me to abandon this fight. We cannot remain passive spectators while soulless and despicable animals treat children with indifference.»

Child trafficking is a devastating crisis in the United States. According to data from Our Rescue, this industry generates $173 billion annually worldwide, with hundreds of thousands of victims in this country alone.

Unanue, allied with figures like Tom Homan, former «border czar,» and journalist Sara Carter, launched a campaign to locate more than 325,000 missing children over the past two years, many of whom have fallen into exploitation networks.

«I will not rest until they are found,» he vowed, emphasizing an urgency that goes beyond his title at Goya.

So, what motivated the board’s decision? Clues point to internal tensions, possibly linked to Unanue’s political stance.

In 2020, his praise of Donald Trump from the White House triggered the left’s fury, with failed boycotts that, nevertheless, may have left scars within Goya’s leadership.

Goya is not just a brand; it is a symbol of Hispanic identity. Its products—beans, seasoning, adobo—are staples in millions of households.

But this limbo could erode that connection. If the company abandons causes like Goya Cares, it risks alienating a customer base that values its social commitment as much as its food offerings.

Unanue is no stranger to controversy. His Catholic faith, his defense of the family, and his rejection of political correctness made him a hero to conservatives and a villain to the left.

This case reeks of capitulation. Unanue challenged the progressive dogma that prefers to ignore human trafficking rather than confront its systemic failures.

The left never forgave him for his alliance with Trump or for speaking out so bluntly. And while there is no proof that they orchestrated this, the outcome certainly benefits them.

The board, by leaving him in limbo without explanations, seems more interested in appeasement than leadership. It’s a pattern we’ve seen before: sacrificing principles for optics.
