Deal or No Deal Island Season 2, Episode 8 Recap

Season 3 of Deal or No Deal Island continues to be an unpredictable delight. New twists keep the players in game mode, and alliances are always being tested. This new Banker is feisty!

Last time, after beating the Banker, CK sent Seychelle Cordero home. Next up, David played the Banker. He also made a good deal and canceled Dr. Will Kirby’s appointment on the island. So, let’s jump into the Season 2, Episode 8 recap of Deal or No Deal Island, “Safety in Numbers.”

While the Family and CK celebrated Dr. Will’s exit back at camp, Lete was sad. Plus, she is concerned that the numbers aren’t on her side. The next morning, Lete was trying to build numbers with Dickson. So, is Dickson into Lete? Yes. Is he stringing her along in the game? Also, yes.

Well, Phillip finally pulled Parvati aside to talk. And he firmly told her why her comment about Dr. Will being like the kids who bullied him was painful. “It was low, and it was gross, and it was probably one of the worst things anyone has ever said to me,” Phillip told Parvati. He added that she weaponized his “childhood trauma,” using “it as a chess piece in the game.”

After Parvati apologized, he replied, “There are some lines you don’t cross and it scares the hell out of me that you don’t naturally have that line.” Then he left, and their friendship and challenge partnership were over.

The seven remaining players met host and Game Master Joe Manganiello at the Banker’s hiking trail. This challenge will test whether a player knows when to stand firm, and when to walk away.

The competitors will begin their hike as a team. They will collect cases with increasing values as the hike progresses. Along the way, the players will have to figure out the team’s “biggest liabilities” and ditch them. Ouch! The Banker has set a 45-minute deadline to finish the hike. If all the guests make it back within the time frame, she will add $2.5 million to the board at The Temple.

Plus, the players who retrieve one of the two highest-value cases will have total safety. Of course, the guest with the highest value case will decide who will play against the Banker.

At the first stop, they saw Kamari, a sign, and some cases. Only five contestants can proceed, and they should be “the most fearless.” The group must vote to decide who to cut loose. Those two players must then select a case and head back to the starting point. Yikes!

Right away, CK nominated Lete, citing her apparent lack of brain power. What?! Then Parvati voted for Lete, but Dickson defended her. Finally, Lete and Dickson were selected.

Meanwhile, at the next stop, a concrete well with ladders greeted the players. CK went up on the ladder and looked down, and it had some spicy iguanas in it. The sign said that each contestant must retrieve one bag from the bottom of the well and then exit the ladder on the other side to continue. As Parvati noted, “Those are dinos!”

Poor Phillip had a tough time. He was shaking all over, but he did it! Everyone else hurried through, and the group moved along.

Finally, the group happened upon Ben. The sign read that only three people could move on, and they should like “hanging out” together. So, the group must once again vote for who to leave behind. Parvati pointed out that she and Phillip haven’t been “hanging out” for days, so she voted for him. In the end, Phillip and CK were voted out and headed back with their cases.

So, La Shell, Parvati, and David moved on. However, while CK, Lete, Dickson, and Phillip were in danger of facing the Banker, Joe handed them a lifeline. If three of the competitors could agree on one person who would remain in danger, the trio would be safe from facing the Banker. But they would still be eligible for elimination. And the next person who returned would automatically be in the bottom two, and eligible to face the Banker.

In a shocking move, Lete asked Dickson if he would be willing to face the Banker, and he flat-out refused. He just defended you, Lete! In the end, CK, Phillip, and Lete all voted for Dickson. And Dickson was not thrilled.

Next up, Kamari was waiting for the trio. To retrieve the two highest-value cases, the guests must go across a gorge on a wire above the pounding ocean below. Only two can proceed, and the trio must vote someone out. While La Shell doesn’t trust Parvati, she does trust David. And she wasn’t vibing with dangling over a gorge, so La Shell left it to the Family.

Crossing the gorge was difficult, even for David. But they both made it across and raced back. The duo locked in their cases with just two seconds to spare. Since Parvati has the highest value case worth $2,250,000, she will select who faces the Banker. And David brought back the second-highest value case, so he has total safety.

Then Joe revealed to La Shell that she and Dickson were in danger of facing the Banker. Surprise! Now Parvati is in a pickle. She promised La Shell safety, and Dickson is her island son.

Of course, Dickson made it plain that he didn’t want to face the Banker, and he was frustrated that Parvati was thinking about her options. La Shell also didn’t want to play the Banker. But if she does, and makes a good deal, she let Parvati know that she will send Dickson home. Decision, decisions!

Meanwhile, Dickson shared an emotional moment with David. He told his island father, “You’re everything I wanted in a dad and never got.” They embraced, and David’s eyes filled with tears. Pass the tissues, please.

La Shell Wooten faces off against the Banker in Deal or No Deal Island Season 2, Episode 8.

La Shell picked number 10 as her case. She pushed two high numbers and two low numbers off the board in the first round. The Banker’s opening offer was only $240,000, so La Shell declined the deal and moved on.

During the second round, La Shell knocked off two low numbers and two high numbers. The Banker’s next offer was a cool $725,000. Once again, she declined the deal and has one more case to open. There are two high values and two low values left on the board. She knocked a low number off the board, and the Banker offered a stunning $1,558,000.

As La Shell debated her next move, Joe asked, “What’s more important? Safety or money?” La Shell would like both. When Joe said that she “really does walk the walk,” La Shell answered, “I’m pretty dope.”

La Shell Wooten was the eighth player eliminated in Deal or No Deal Island Season 2.

La Shell took the Banker’s offer, but unfortunately, she made a bad deal. Everyone was upset, particularly CK. Even Joe was moved that she was leaving. The Game Master said, “I love you, La Shell,” He added, “You’re pretty dope.”

In her final confessional, La Shell said, “I played well enough to put a seven-figure amount into the final pot, but I came up short with the case that I had in my possession. It’s a game, right? And I’m just happy I got to be a part of it.” The social worker continued, “But people who are left to play, there’s a lot of knives out. It’s going to be probably a little more of a vicious game than I actually even want to be a part of.” And thanks to La Shell, the final case total is a dope $9,182,000.

Deal or No Deal Island continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock.
