‘Landman’ Finds Perfect New Cast Candidate as Taylor Sheridan Veteran Officially Confirms Interest

Taylor Sheridan‘s sprawling television universe thrives on a massive, talented ensemble, with many actors playing multiple characters across different shows. As his roster of frequent collaborators continues to expand, a familiar face is gunning for Landman Season 3 with a compelling pitch for their target role.

While Lioness stars Thad Luckinbill, LaMonica Garrett, and Dave Annable have all expressed interest in joining the show, Laysla De Oliveira is taking it a step further. Speaking with MovieWeb, the actress revealed that she actually encouraged her co-star, Michael Kelly, to land his recent casting.

“I’m so happy for him. He wanted to be on Landman for a really long time. And he was like, ‘Should I text Taylor?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, you should.’ And I actually—I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this—but I encouraged him to text Taylor. So I’m really happy he got a part in that.”

Kelly’s success also has De Oliveira drumming up her own role in the series, as Danny “Gallino” Morrell’s daughter or lawyer. She would be sharing scenes with legendary actor Andy Garcia if Sheridan ever grants her wish. “Maybe I need to follow my own advice and write Taylor,” she joked.

Kelly is set to join Landman Season 3 as oil tycoon William Crocket, a new power player who will shake things up and stack the odds higher against Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton). Tommy already has his work cut out for him after leaving M-Tex Oil and bootstrapping his own operation in Season 2. Kelly’s casting reunites him with Lioness co-star James Jordan, who currently holds the record for having the most roles in the Sheridanverse, with Yellowstone, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, and Landman to his credit.

De Oliveira has delivered a breakout performance in Lioness as Cruz Manuelos, a character with one of the most tumultuous arcs in the series. Across three seasons, De Oliveira fully fleshed out Cruz’s journey from a traumatized Marine recruit to an undercover operative, a Delta Force operator, and a vital QRF team member. Lioness is setting her up for higher leadership, and it wouldn’t be surprising if she inherits Joe McNamara’s (Zoe Saldaña) position in the future. Similarly, De Oliveira has proven her mettle and earned a place in Sheridanverse’s ensemble of regulars.

Landman would mark another milestone in De Oliveira’s career if she gets her dream role — she only needs to lobby for the part as relentlessly as her Lioness co-star Jordan, who confirmed that he pushed to audition for any Sheridan project after seeing Sicario in theaters. He showcased his range as Wind River‘s main villain and has since secured a long-standing professional relationship with Sheridan. Whether De Oliveira eventually crosses paths with Kelly and Jordan in Landman or continues her run in Lioness, she has already established herself as one of the most dynamic actors in the Sheridanverse.
