Can Jane Krakowski name that tune? The game show host opened up about the change she made to her hosting style on this season of Celebrity Name That Tune.
Krakowski appeared on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle on Friday, September 18, to talk about the new season, which premieres on September 21.
“This is such a cute show,” Jenna Bush Hager said. “It’s something the family can watch together, which is what we want.”
“We can all guess together, which I did when I watched the original show back in the day,” Krakowski said. “Now, we’re on Season 6 already, and I’m so thrilled that we’ve come back for another season with Robin Thicke bringing his smooth tunes and some dad jokes, which I’m getting used to. I called Ken Jeong, saying, ‘How do you deal with this?’”
“It’s like a live concert every episode, and I hope that transfers to people who watch it at home, too. It’s so fun,” she said.
Bush Hager asked Krakowski if she is any good at Name That Tune. She revealed a change she made this season.
“You know, I’ve sort of tried to play along because I don’t know if I’m good or not good at Name That Tune,” Krakowski said. “Because, like you, I have the cards in my hands with the answers. And so, recently, in the last season, I decided to not look at the answers prior to at least round, which is my favorite round called Remixed, where they take a song that you know from one genre and put it in another genre. It’s one of the harder games, but I love it, and they always try to surprise me. Our music team always tries to surprise me with them. So, this year, I played along live, and Name That Tune is hard.”
“Especially when you’re put on the spot,” Sheinelle Jones replied.
“Especially for our contestants,” Krakowski said, “who are either trying to win $100,000, or the celebrities who come on to raise a lot of money for their very worthy charities. So, we’re so thankful for everyone who comes on and is game to play.”
This season, Krakowski is being joined by Robin Thicke on the piano as the band leader. He replaced Randy Jackson, who was on the show from Seasons 1 to 5. Season 6 will feature a mix of celebrities and civilians.
