Even if The Conners season 6 isn’t the Roseanne spinoff’s final outing, there will still be a few questions that the show needs to clarify for viewers. The Conners has a tricky history, so it is no surprise that the show has left the fate of a few important characters hanging from time to time. The Conners was originally Roseanne, a successful sitcom about a working-class family that proved popular throughout the ‘90s. When Roseanne was revived for a belated tenth season in 2017, the show retconned its entire final season and returned to the show’s pre-season 9 status quo. However, Roseanne’s season 10 revival soon ran into another problem.
While the revival wasn’t a critical disaster like Roseanne season 9, the show did have to fire Roseanne’s actor Roseanne Barr when the comedienne went on a racist Twitter tirade. Viewers were understandably uncertain how Roseanne could continue without Roseanne herself, but The Conners soon proved that focusing on the rest of Roseanne’s family made for a pretty solid substitute. That said, killing off Roseanne resulted in the spinoff forgetting about important supporting stars and their storylines for entire seasons at a time. This is why The Conners season 6 must answer some major questions about dangling subplots that the show has seemingly abandoned.
8 What Will Harris Do In The Conners Season 6?
Harris was pretty central to The Conners season 4 as Darlene fretted about her daughter potentially marrying the shiftless Aldo. That wedding was called off when Harris realized that Aldo expected her to become a mother as soon as they got married, but Harris has not had a solid storyline in the season since then. She no longer has any apparent career plan, but she also doesn’t want to stay in Lanford forever. Instead of The Conners season 6 bringing back Roseanne characters for cameos again, the show should instead explain what is going on with Harris’s unclear ambitions.
7 When Will Becky Move Out of Darlene and Ben’s Home?
Becky has been saving up for some time now, but she still hasn’t graduated from her psychology course. This is striking since she has not only been in this course for years, but she was even dating her professor for some time before receiving academic probation as a result of their relationship. Since then, The Conners hasn’t explained the status of her studies other than frequently referencing her vaguely defined, ongoing course. As such, the Roseanne spinoff needs to state when Becky is set to finish this degree and clarify when she can move herself and her daughter Beverly-Rose out of Ben and Darlene’s home as a result.
6 What Happened To Sean Astin’s Tyler?
Becky’s promising love interest Tyler only appeared in one episode of The Conners season 5, but he seemingly hit it off with her and the pair had a lot of chemistry together. Not only that, but Tyler’s job as a pilot means that he might have the financial stability necessary to help Becky move out of her sister’s home. Particularly if The Conners season 6 is the show’s final outing, the series needs to bring back Astin’s guest star. At the very least, the show should provide a satisfying justification that explains why Becky’s short-lived time with this promising paramour came to a sudden offscreen end.
5 Will Roseanne’s David Healy Ever Return To The Conners?
The Conners season 5 finale seemingly set up David Healy’s inevitable return, only to subvert viewer expectations when Mark decided that he didn’t want his estranged father to attend his graduation after all. However, this leads to the question of whether David has any route back into the family left. There was a time when Johnny Galecki’s character seemed like he was destined to end up with Sara Gilbert’s Darlene, so the Roseanne spinoff does need to explain whether the character has any future in the world of the series.
4 What Is Mark Going To Study In College?
While The Big Bang Theory star Galecki may never return to The Conners, season 6 of the series still needs to explain what plans David’s son has for his much-discussed academic future. Now that Mark has graduated, he can no longer talk about college as a vague plan of his. After making so much noise about affording college, the show has never clarified what exactly Mark wants to study there. Now that Darlene has taken a lunch lady job to ensure that her son can attend an expensive college, The Conners season 6 must explain just what it is that Mark intends to do in this institution of higher learning.
3 How Long Does Beverly Have Left?
Bev seemed to be on her last legs in The Conners season 5, but the show has not yet grappled with how her potential death would impact the family. The Conners are not close with Bev due to both Roseanne’s death and Bev’s years of dishonesty and distance. However, they did pay to put her in a home and Jackie visited her in The Conners season 5, episode 8, “Of Missing Minds and Fries.” When she saw how bad her mother’s dementia was, Jackie warmed to her and the pair finally buried their decades-old beef. As such, it makes sense for Bev’s role should come to an end in season 6.
2 Is Dan and Louise’s Marriage Going to Last?
Dan and Louise’s fights got more frequent even after Harris moved out, prompting viewers to wonder whether it was over for the pair. While The Conners season 6’s potential spinoffs would likely focus on the show’s younger cast members, the most senior couple in the family have a surprisingly messy, uneven history. However, while Dan and Louise often can’t see eye to eye, they still clearly care about each other. If Dan can gain some healthy boundaries from his adult children, their union might still be alright.
1 Did Dan Ever Forgive Neville After The Conners Season 5?
Neville did thank Dan for covering for him when he got a DUI. However, The Conners season 5 never explained whether Dan forgave Neville for his insensitive “Drifter” comment. Neville’s claim that the Conner family was constantly coming to Jackie looking for money was not only inaccurate but also an insulting characterization of a proud family. As such, it would make sense if Dan held a grudge over this. That said, Neville and Dan’s feud escalating would ruin The Conners season 6’s perfect ending. As such, Roseanne’s hero might have to let the comment go in The Conners season 6 to keep the peace.
