It’s time to play a game again as the next SAW movie is finally moving forward.
Originally created by Leigh Whannell and James Wan, the horror franchise remains one of the most enduring in the genre over 20 years later, having thus far released 10 films, with the original duo officially passing the torch to other storytellers beginning with the fourth film. After Saw X became the best-reviewed installment in the series, and the first to score a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, plans immediately got underway for an eleventh film, with a September 2024 release date once set for it, but the sequel was ultimately cancelled after a year of development.
Nearly three years after the franchise’s previous installment, The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that the next Saw movie will be directed by Mike P. Nelson. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps for the next installment, which is now being produced by Blumhouse Productions after they bought out Twisted Pictures’ stake in the franchise.
