NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani recently gave a five-word response to Jimmy Kimmel‘s request about Donald Trump. Mamdani appeared on the September 28 episode, where he also discussed his working relationship with the President. The mayor and Trump met for their third meeting at the Gracie Mansion in NYC this month.
Zohran Mamdani rejects Jimmy Kimmel’s request of sending a selfie to Donald Trump
Jimmy Kimmel recently asked Zohran Mamdani to send a selfie to Donald Trump, but the NYC mayor rejected the request.
Kimmel is a known critic of Trump. So when the talk show host asked Mamdani to send Trump a photo of the two of them, the mayor quickly turned him down. He said, “Jimmy, I love you, but I love housing more.” The request came after Kimmel brought up the texts Mamdani and Trump share.
The mayor said most of their texts are about how they can do their best for New York City. He added, “One of the other things the president mentioned that we spoke about, that I care very deeply about, is Haitian New Yorkers. They’ve had their protected status ended, and I really believe we need to do whatever we can so they have stability.” Kimmel also questioned Mamdani on how he managed to get into a “friendly relationship” with the President.
He even asked the mayor for tips on how to “charm” Trump. Mamdani revealed that he has many disagreements with the President. However, he shared that one thing he and Trump agree on is NYC and “how much we love this city.” He said his only agenda during his meeting with Trump at the Gracie Mansion was to discuss the benefits for New Yorkers.
After their meeting, Trump and Mamdani held a press conference where the President lauded the mayor and said he would do “great.”
