EasyJet is introducing seven new routes from several UK airports as millions of Brits gear up for the holiday season. The popular budget airlines offers more than 62 million seats annually on flights to and from the country. The airline has now expanded its UK network with a range of new services, including flights to sought-after winter getaway destinations and cities famous for their festive Christmas markets, such as Copenhagen, Nuremberg and Kraków.

The expansion has been rapid, with seven new routes introduced over the course of just three days.

Over the past few days, easyJet has continued to expand its route network, launching two new services from Newcastle Airport (NCL). The new connections link the north-east city with John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice (KRK) in Poland and Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) in Morocco.

Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: “easyJet’s continued growth, with 31 destinations now on sale since the opening of their base, underlines their strong commitment to both the Airport and wider North East region and we look forward to seeing these exciting new winter services take off later this year.2

From November 5, the airline has introduced a twice-weekly service to Copenhagen Airport (CPH) in Denmark.

All three routes will face competition from rival carriers. Elsewhere, easyJet has added a new link between Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) and Keflavik International Airport (KEF) in Iceland.

The airline has also resumed direct flights between Manchester Airport (MAN) and Nuremberg Airport (NUE) in Germany, home to one of Europe’s oldest and most renowned Christmas markets.

The route had lacked a nonstop service for several years, with aviation data from Cirium showing that Ryanair was the last airline to operate flights between the two cities, doing so in 2019.

A new service has been launched between London Southend Airport (SEN) and George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD) on November 2. The new year-round route operates three times weekly, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.

Nigel Mayes, Business Development Director at London Southend Airport, said they were “really pleased to welcome Belfast to our growing route network.”

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: “Belfast is a fantastic destination for both leisure and business travellers and, with convenient airports at both ends of the route, we’re sure the new service will prove popular with customers travelling between the two regions.”

Another new route being added by easyJet is a service linking London Luton Airport (LTN) with Rabat–Salé Airport (RBA), the main gateway to Morocco’s capital, Rabat. The route started on November 5 and will operate with two flights each week.
