Sitting in the right chair is essential for any worker, not just for comfort, but to ensure good physical health and focus. Spending hours every day in a poorly constructed chair can result in conditions such as back and neck pain, as well as impacting productivity.
These days, more and more Brits spend their week working from home, with many likely doing so in an unsuitable chair. Luckily, Herman Miller has just kicked off its Black Friday sale where there is 25% off its entire range of ergonomic office chairs – plus discounts on its gaming chair line-up.
The brand says it has developed its range of chairs designed for different work styles and needs by studying how people work and move, whether that’s spending hours sitting at a desk or switching between different tasks. Every chair is said to be ‘rigorously tested’ to ensure its durability and long-term performance, with a 12-year warranty also included at no extra cost.
Prevent slouching and fatigue
Included in the sale is a whopping £355.25 off the Aeron Office Chair at £1,065.75 (was £1,421). Herman Miller’s ‘most recognised’ chair has sold more than eight million units, each one designed to support a range of postures, activities and body types.
It promotes optimal seating posture with Pellicle suspension material and patented back support, as well as adjustable arms, seat height, depth and recline. The Aeron comes in a choice of three sizes and five stylish colours: Onyx, Graphite, Mineral, Jasper and Nightfall.
Herman Miller’s Embody Gaming Chair is suitable for both remote worker and gamers and is £461.25 off at £1,383.75 (was £1,845). Crafted in collaboration with Logitech, this chair has been tested by ergonomic experts and gamers and is designed to support different postures including active and upright to reclined and relaxed.

Balance support and movement
Its seat features an extra foam layer for added comfort and prevention of heat buildup ideal for long gaming sessions, while its back conforms to one’s spine shape and movements. Remote workers could opt for the Mirra 2 Office Chair at £808.50 (was £1,078), which comes in a choice of six bold colours and promotes proper back alignment.
This model is said to prevent slouching and fatigue thanks to support of the spine’s lowest point. It also boasts fully-adjustable arms and lumbar support, with two back options to help eliminate pressure points.
Towards the more affordable end of Herman Miller’s range is the Verus Office Chair at £550.50 (was £734), built to assure ergonomic alignment and suit a range of postures, with adjustable ‘PostureFit’ supporting the spine. Other standout features of this model include a height-adjustable lumbar support, adjustable seat depth and a choice of two breathable back options.
‘Rigorously tested’ for long-term performance
Herman Miller’s Sayl Office Chair features a design inspired by San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, with a unique back built with variably tensioned elastomer strands to balance support and movement. It’s on offer at £596.25 (was £795) and customisable with a choice of upholstery combinations and arm types including fixed or fully adjustable.
Gamers may want to consider the Vantum Gaming Chair for £742.50 (was £990), as this is Herman Miller’s first-ever chair designed with gamers in mind. This versatile model ensures the optimal playing position with a forward-leaning alignment and tilt settings, while the adjustable headrest offers support through the head, neck, shoulders and spine.
Shoppers can use Herman Miller’s handy office chair guide to find which model is right for them. Also in the brand’s Black Friday sale are a selection of desks such as the Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk (£645, was £860) which can be transformed from sitting to standing at the touch of a button.

What do people say about Herman Miller?
More than 10,000 customers have shared their experience with Herman Miller on the brand’s US site, where it’s achieved an average score of 4.5 stars. Of the Aeron Office Chair, one said: “I’ve owned my Aeron for over eight years, best investment I ever made for my back.”

This shopper said they felt a difference in their back the first time they sat on the Embody Gaming Chair, adding: “I purchased this because I am only 22 and have had back issues for years, it’s the greatest thing I ever bought. However, despite their glowing review, the same buyer noted a potential downside, saying: “The one thing I do not like is that it does not come with a headrest, and also can be a little noisy at times, but I would still purchase again.”
While of the Sayl Office Chair, this five-star review says: “Looks great in my little apartment, it is comfortable and built like a tank. I’m very happy with my chair which I spend a lot of time on every day.”
“Extremely comfortable to use all day,” another said. “The best work/gaming chair I have ever used.”
