How to Make Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Even though this recipe only calls for three basic paleo ingredients, each one of them is an incredibly flavorful option to use. The first ingredient that you’ll be needing is obviously the sweet potatoes, which are easily my favorite paleo carb source.
The second ingredient that you will be using is minced garlic cloves. This is obviously what will be providing your roasted potatoes with their immense amount of flavor, but the garlic does a whole lot more than just that. Garlic has been used for centuries for a wide variety of purposes, ranging from culinary to medicinal uses. It can enhance your immune system, fight off infections, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and even help prevent cancer from developing. (1)
The third and final ingredient used is olive oil. After seasoning your sweet potatoes and garlic with a little bit of salt and pepper, you will be drizzling them in olive oil. This staple of Mediterranean cuisine is also used to great effect when following a paleo diet.
It’s an extremely rich source of heart healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, it’s packed full of antioxidants, and it even has anti-inflammatory benefits as well. Rather interestingly, studies have also revealed that in individuals who regularly consume olive oil, there is a noticeably lower prevalence of many types of cancer. (2)
When you place these garlic roasted sweet potatoes in the oven, get ready for your mouth to water once the aroma begins to fill your kitchen. This dish tastes just as good as it smells as well, and I’m positive it will quickly become one of your favorites. If you really can’t get enough garlicky goodness, I recommend taking the time to make your own homemade garlic infused olive oil as well. It goes amazingly well with this recipe.
