It’s going to be a busy month for HBO Max, including the series finales of “Succession” and “Barry,” and the complete rebranding of the service as much of Discovery’s library is absorbed into Max, which will drop the “HBO” from its name.
That seismic change will happen May 23. Long story short, current HBO Max subscribers won’t need to do anything or pay more (at least for a while), and will soon have access to many Discovery+ shows — so HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Discovery, etc. — while Discovery+ will remain a standalone service for those who don’t want the HBO/Warner content.
But until then, HBO Max’s May highlights will be “White House Plumbers” (May 1), a five-episode limited series telling the behind-the-scenes story of Nixon’s political saboteurs whose botched burglary kicked off the Watergate scandal, starring Justin Theroux as G. Gordon Liddy and Woody Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt; and Season 3 of the showbiz comedy “The Other Two” (May 4), with Brooke and Cary (Heléne Yorke and Drew Tarver) now successful on their own, yet still in the shadow of their pop star younger brother (Case Walker) and massively popular talk-show host mother (Molly Shannon).
And of course there are new weekly episodes of “Succession,” (series finale May 28 , “Barry” (series finale May 28), “Somebody Somewhere” (season finale May 28), “100 Foot Wave” (season finale May 21) and “Love & Death” (series finale May 25).

Max announced more additions post-merge, including the HBO comedy special “Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love” (May 27), the HBO documentary “Being Mary Tyler Moore” (May 26), and the HBO original film “Reality” (May 29), starring Sydney Sweeney, as well as new episodes of Discovery shows such as “90 Day Fiancee: Love in Paradise,” (May 29), “Deadliest Catch” (May 23) and “Home Town Takeover” (May 23),
