YouTube gaming giants The Game Theorists have asked their fans to cast their votes to determine who would win in a fight: Freddy Fazbear from Five Nights at Freddy’s or Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime. The Game Theorists specialize in publishing videos that break down the lore of popular video games. They’ve done multiple theories on both FNAF and Poppy Playtime, taking deep dives into the games and similar indie horror games (as well as countless other titles over the years).

Now, the theorists are turning to their fans for help in deciding which horror game mascot would emerge victorious in a battle. A recent poll posted on The Game Theorists YouTube channel asks the channel’s viewers to vote on who would win between Freddy and Huggy. At the time of this writing, Freddy Fazbear is the undisputed winner, raking in 57% of over 150,000 votes.

According to the poll, 57% of fans believe that Freddy would win in a fight, while 43% believe that Huggy Wuggy would win. However, looking at the comments reveals a different story altogether. According to some of the most upvoted comments, the poll results are indicative of a popularity vote, not a judgment of their strength. “Huggy is a literal monster. Freddy only has the metal skin going for him,” says YouTube user quillsinkwell, a sentiment that’s repeated many times throughout the top comments.

Many fans of both games point out that Huggy is a killing machine who has an upper leg on Freddy in terms of size, speed, and strength. YouTube user shadowhawkrine1947 points out that regardless of which version of Freddy is in this fight, Huggy is still the stronger of the two: “Freddy can’t get through a chain link wall while Huggy tore through a reinforced metal barrier.” Despite comments to the contrary, the poll has spoken, and it doesn’t seem like Freddy will lose out to Huggy at the rate these votes are going.

The fight between Freddy Fazbear and Huggy Wuggy is just the first round in a series of battles that The Game Theorists channel plans to play out in the polls. The full lineup was shared in a community post on YouTube and is made up of eight battles featuring 16 characters from popular indie horror titles like Amanda The Adventurer, Hello Neighbor, and others.

Poppy often has questionable motives behind her actions in Poppy Playtime, but in Chapter 4, she didn’t do anything to deserve the title of villain.

By the end of the polling on all eight fights, The Game Theorists will be able to definitively answer the question, “Which indie horror character do you think would win in a fight?” For now, it seems that Freddy Fazbear of Five Nights At Freddy’s will emerge as the victor in the battle against Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime. Only time and further polling will tell who will rise to the top as the most ferocious indie game baddie.
