This pretty country is Africa’s most visited and it’s one that many tourists are often keen to visit due to its exciting culture. Morocco is home to a captivating blend of rich history, diverse landscapes, and vibrant culture. From the majestic Atlas Mountains to the golden sands of the Sahara Desert, Morocco offers something for everyone.

According to Business Insider Africa, Morocco is the most visited in Africa and it’s not surprising due to the wide variety of trips offered across the country. In 2024, the country set a new tourism record after welcoming 17.4 million tourists – a 20% increase compared to the previous year, according to the country’s Ministry of Tourism. And British tourists can access the country easily too, as it’s only a four-hour flight away.

One popular city to visit is Marrakesh, known for being a fascinating place to visit – the city is a must-see for its vibrant mix of history and culture.

Tourists can lose themselves in the enchanting maze of its ancient medina or explore stunning palaces and gardens.

Away from Marrakesh, there’s also Fez and Casablanca, which are home to a mix of ancient traditions and modern influences.

One person who visited Marrakesh’s medina said on Tripadvisor: “The Aladdin-like old town of Marrakesh is the reason for many to visit Morocco.

“Criss-crossing the labyrinth of lanes and alleys is an interesting experience. Unparalleled in the world, the medina is still a large, living city with many stalls catering to the local community.

“Do devote enough time and energy to explore the city and understand the customs and traditions.”

Another must-see place in the country is Bahia Palace, located in Marrakesh.

A visitor said on Tripadvisor: “Visiting Bahia Palace was an incredible experience! The palace is absolutely stunning, with its beautiful courtyards, intricate mosaics, and impressive architecture.

“The gardens are peaceful and offer a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech.”
