The Exorcist: Believer was a hotly-anticipated horror film based on the 1973 classic The Exorcist. The Exorcist: Believer is the first in a new trilogy of films featuring a single father named Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom, Jr.) who has been raising his daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett) since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago. In the film by Universal and Blumhouse, Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) disappear for days in the woods.
When they return, they have no memory of what happened to them, and evil things start to happen. Victor seeks help from Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn). Chris’ daughter Regan was possessed in the original ’70s film. The movie did quite well in theaters, tying together nostalgia and new horror effects, grossing over $133 million worldwide. The second film in the trilogy, The Exorcist: Deceiver, is scheduled to premiere in theaters on April 18, 2025.
