The Simpsons Featured 750 Unique Characters In Opening Sequence For Milestone Episode


750 classic The Simpsons characters return to Springfield in the 750th episode’s opening sequence. The long-running animated sitcom concluded season 34 with the 750th episode, “Homer’s Adventures Through the Windshield Glass,” on May 21, where a traumatic accident leads to Homer (Dan Castellaneta) reflecting on his relationships. While The Simpsons season 34 has reached its end, the show will continue, as it was renewed for seasons 35 and 36 in January.

With The Simpsons‘ 750th episode, longtime fans were treated to a unique take on the show’s iconic opening sequence that celebrated a number of the faces who’ve passed through the town throughout the decades. The opening sequence featured 750 characters from previous episodes, from classic early one-off characters like the cruel babysitter bandit Lucille Botzcowski (Penny Marshall), to newer characters like Kerry Washington’s Springfield Elementary teacher Ms. Peyton. The Simpsons Has Gathered One Of TV’s Most Memorable Guest Character Rosters

With The Simpsons having run continuously for 34 seasons since 1989, it has been host to an impressive amount of characters, including residents of Springfield itself, celebrities passing through, or even visitors from the far-off world of Rigel VII. Certain characters have left their impact on The Simpsons‘ legacy and stand out as some of the most memorable parts of the show. Over-the-top individuals like Albert Brooks’ actual supervillain Hank Scorpio are fondly remembered for their hilarious moments, while others such as one-time substitute teacher Mr. Bergstrom (Dustin Hoffman) make a profound impact on the core cast.

However, while The Simpsons has no shortage of memorable personalities, the show has also said farewell to numerous characters across the years. Characters such as incompetent lawyer Lionel Hutz and disgraced actor Troy Maclure were retired following the death of actor Butch Hartman in 1998. Similarly, Bart’s 4th grade teacher Edna Krabappel was similarly retired following the passing of Marcia Wallace in 2013, with following episodes featuring touching tributes to both the character and the beloved cast member.

With over 34 years of misadventures and antics, audiences have no shortage of favorite characters to choose from. The show has amassed an impressive roster of characters across the years. As such, The Simpsons‘ special 750th episode opening is a perfect celebration of the show’s legacy and incredible cast.
