Sister Wives’ Meri Brown Admits the Family ‘Failed Ourselves’

The Brown family is falling apart. Of course, that fact is hardly news anymore. Kody Brown’s marriages have been falling apart for years now.

Sister Wives viewers have seen the writing on the wall for quite a while. In 2014, Kody and Meri Brown ended their legal marriage. The pandemic exacerbated the problems between Kody and Janelle.

In 2021, Kody and Christine called things off as well. Now, all that remains is the spiritual marriage to Robyn. Reports suggest the two might try monogamy. So, what happened? Well, hear it from their lips.

Kody thinks there “wasn’t enough loyalty”

In a video shared with PEOPLE, members of the Brown family watched footage of their commitment ceremony from 2013, adding reflections and commentary. Not even 30 seconds into the video, Robyn started crying, nearly breaking down. She said, “I can’t watch this,” and frantically tried to stop the footage. She also took off her mic and said, “I need a break.”

When Meri finished watching the footage, she said, “I am so mad at us. Every single one of us. We failed ourselves.” Christine also said, “That’s one of my things that I decided – that even though I’ve left Kody and left the family and everything, that’s one of those days that was special.”

Janelle similarly said, “We all poured our heart and soul into the mission statement.” She reflected on bringing in the family counselor to help. “I resonated with it,” she added. As for Kody, he said, “I felt like that was so inspired. “We just failed to abide by it … There just wasn’t enough loyalty in the family.” Loyalty from whom Kody?

Sister Wives: Look Back airs on TLC Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
