Godzilla and McDonald’s team up for a fun new promo in Japan, pitting the powerful Kaiju against the famous fast food restaurant.

The King of Monsters is going through one of his most successful periods in his long career in the world of film and television. While fans of the MonsterVerse wait for its return to the big screen with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, they can enjoy a different facet of the franchise with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, while the most purist fans have been fascinated by the success Godzilla Minus One, considered by many one of the best films of the year and the entire Toho franchise.

Therefore, it is not a surprise that McDonald’s wanted to take advantage of the renewed popularity of the Kaiju to create a new promo where the two giants face each other. A new collaboration between the brands is on the way and will arrive in January with a special and gigantic menu at McDonald’s Japan, and to promote it they published an incredible ad that imagines a world where the food company created a giant mecha to face off Godzilla:

The Future of Godzilla

Legendary Pictures

Godzilla fans outside of Japan may not be able to enjoy the big collaboration with McDonald’s, but there will be plenty of Godzilla content to consume on the big screen in 2024. After their titanic confrontation in Godzilla v Kong, the monsters will return in the next adventure from the MonsterVerse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which hits theaters on March 15, 2024.

Check out the official synopsis:

“The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of “Godzilla vs. Kong” with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

The movie stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, Rachel House, Dan Stevens, Alex Ferns, Fala Chen, and Mercy Cornwall. It is directed by Adam Wingard, from a script written by Simon Barett (You’re Next), Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl), and Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight).

As for Toho films, after the good reception of Minus One, many expected a new project to be released soon. However, it has already been confirmed that an upcoming Godzilla movie from the famous studio will take a while to arrive. However, for fans, it seems to be good news, since they prefer to wait and be able to enjoy a high-quality product.

In the meantime, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which releases a new episode every Friday until January 12 on Apple TV+, is filling a MonsterVerse void, and continues to deliver a deeper dive into the franchise than the movies have been able to, while still bringing out the big Titan battles when needed.
