10 Biggest All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Theories

Summary

  • Season 2 of All of Us Are Dead will focus on the introduction of half-zombies, a new species with abilities and desires that make them a potential threat.
  • The return of Cheong-san in season 2 is highly likely, as his apparent death in season 1 was not conclusive and the actor’s involvement in the season 2 announcement suggests his comeback.
  • Flashbacks will likely be used in season 2 to reveal what happened to both Cheong-san and Nam-ra during the time skip, providing explanations for their survival and character development.

All of Us Are Dead season 2 is happening, and several theories try to predict what is next for On-jo, Nam-ra, Su-hyeok, and the rest of the survivors. One of the best Korean shows on Netflix, All of Us Are Dead combines the school drama and zombie genres in a story about the first few hours of a zombie outbreak. Between Cheong-san’s apparent death and Nam-ra’s return after the time skip, All of Us Are Dead season 1’s ending set up multiple storylines for season 2.

It is not surprising that All of Us Are Dead is returning for season 1 after the show’s success, even though most of the webtoon has already been covered. As a result, the source material cannot help too much when it comes to predicting what happens next. Still, there are enough clues in the finale to theorize what will happen in All of Us Are Dead season 2.

10 All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Will Be About The Half-Zombies

The “Hambies” are an important part of the show

One of the most interesting things about All of Us Are Dead is the concept of half-zombies, also known as hambies or halfbies, which are human-zombie hybrids that are neither alive nor dead. Although they have some of the powers that come with the zombie virus, such as super strength and enhanced senses, they retain control over their body and never forget who they are. However, half-zombies have the same desire to eat human meat as regular zombies, meaning they can still be a threat. Considering what Nam-ra says about hambies having to stick together, season 2 might be entirely about this new species.

9 Cheong-san Will Return In All Of Us Are Dead Season 2

Cheong-san did not really die

Perhaps the most popular theory for All of Us Are Dead season 2 is that Cheong-san will return. The fact that Yoon Chan-young, who plays Cheong-san in All of Us Are Dead, was part of the season 2 video announcement only made that theory more likely. Even though Cheong-san was bitten by a half-zombie, fell from the top of a building, and was in the area affected by the bombings, his return should not be ruled out. Quite the contrary, Cheong-san returning feels more plausible than the alternative, as the show would not have killed off one of its main characters so unceremoniously ahead of season 2.

8 A Flashback Will Reveal What Happened To Cheong-san

If Cheong-san survived, the series needs to show how

Assuming Cheong-san did not die in All of Us Are Dead season 1’s finale, the show will have to provide a very good explanation as to how the character survived everything he went through. At least three different things could have gotten Cheong-san killed, from a zombie bite to the bombarding of the city. On one hand, it might be cool to have Cheong-san appearing from out of nowhere, especially considering a time jump has happened. On the other hand, not showing what happened to Cheong-san right after the city was destroyed would be a missed opportunity. A quick flashback sequence would make Cheong-san’s return even better.

7 A Flashback Will Show What Happened To Nam-ra After She Left The Group

There is a gap in Nam-ra’s story

A closeup of Nam-ra in All of Us Are Dead season 1, episode 12

Nam-ra left the group at the beginning of All of Us Are Dead season 1, episode 12 and only reunited with them in the closing minutes of the finale after the time jump. What happened to Nam-ra during that period is too important of a story for the show to skip over. Presumably, Nam-ra met other half-zombies like her and is now helping them survive in a destroyed city where the militaries are hunting the remaining zombies. Nam-ra also seems to have more control over her zombie transformation, which she might have learned during the time skip. Therefore, a flashback focused on Nam-ra seems likely.

6 Nam-ra Will Be The Leader Of The Hambies In Season 2

Nam-ra is the class president after all

Nam-ra is the class president in All of Us Are Dead, an ironic title considering she is not friends with any of the other students at the beginning of the series. Nam-ra’s arc is about her opening herself to others while welcoming new friendships, and it is only at the end of the show that she truly becomes the “class president.” However, Nam-ra now has a new family – the other halfbies who survived the destruction of the city. It would be interesting to see Nam-ra as the “class president” of these half-zombies, bringing her arc full circle and confirming her as a natural leader.

5 Gwi-Nam Will Return In All Of Us Are Dead Season 2

Could Gwi-nam have survived too?

If Cheong-san returns in season 2, then Gwi-nam may have survived too. Considering that Cheong-san was holding Gwi-nam when they fell down the elevator ahead of the explosion, their fates could very well have been the same. Naturally, given that Cheong-san is one of the main characters, his return seems more plausible than that of the villain. Gwi-nam was the main antagonist for most of season 1, and bringing him back for season 2 could make the show repetitive. Still, for a show about half-zombies and unexpected returns, Gwi-nam being alive would not be too surprising.

4 The Military Will Be The Main Villains In All Of Us Are Dead Season 2

They were already antagonists in season 1

Su-hyeok fighting zombies in All of Us Are Dead

The military played a huge role in All of Us Are Dead season 1, but their importance in season 2 might be even bigger. With the city of Hyosan destroyed to contain the zombie outbreak, the military has made it clear that the situation is out of control and all bets are off. The world will never be the same after the zombie outbreak, meaning could see different factions trying to hold onto their powers across the country and on a global scale as well. Interestingly, Netflix’s Sweet Home season 2, which had to continue the story beyond the webtoon like All of Us Are Dead, focused on the military quite a lot.

3 The Zombie Virus Will Spread To Other Countries At The End Of Season 2

This would match the All of Us Are Dead webtoon

On-jo, Cheong-san, Su-hyeok, and Nam-ra on the poster for All of Us Are Dead

So far, All of Us Are Dead’s zombie outbreak has not gone beyond South Korea. Therefore, season 2 has the chance to expand the show’s scale by confirming the zombie virus has spread to other countries. This, however, would be too big a storyline for season 2 to cover. A good option would be to end All of Us Are Dead season 2 with a zombie or an infected person appearing in another country, teasing how worse things will become in a possible season 3. It would be similar to how the All of Us Are Dead webtoon ends – a fisherman from Japan gets contaminated.

2 Cheong-san Will Be A Villain In All Of Us Are Dead Season 2

Cheong-san’s return might not be a happy one

A custom image featuring Gwi-nam, Cheong-san, and Dr. Lee Byeong-chan in All of Us Are Dead

Cheong-san returning safe and sound in season 2 would be a little too convenient. Therefore, a compelling way to bring the fan-favorite character back while not removing the impact of his “death” in season 1 would be to have Cheong-san as a villain in season 2. Cheong-san was bitten by Gwi-nam before their fall, which means he now has to be at least a half-zombie if he returns. Nam-ra’s character has already shown how difficult it is to control the zombie transformation, and the same would apply to Cheong-san. Even if Cheong-san does control his zombie powers, he might want to distance himself from his friends to protect them.

1 One Of The Main All Of Us Are Dead Characters Will Die In Season 2

One of the couples might not have a happy ending

Several characters died in All of Us Are Dead season 1, but most of the protagonists are still alive. If season 2 wants to raise the stakes and change the course of the show, it could kill one of the main characters. All of Us Are Dead is an ensemble, and while the two main couples are clearly the focus of the story, there is room for new names to be introduced. This would be similar to how Sweet Home season 2 handled its cast – the series killed off a couple of important names from the first season while bringing in new characters.
