The last few years have seen the release of some dark and disturbing movies that have blown away Hollywood, but the recent marketing campaign for Oz Perkins Longlegs, which stars Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, is already giving people nightmares after just three chilling teasers. Following the release of the third of these unnerving glimpses into the movie, the movie’s release date of July has been confirmed, but what is bizarre is that so far none of the footage has focused on the film’s lead star.
Oz Perkins is no stranger to sending shivers down the spine of his audience, known for his eerie storytelling in I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House. Now Perkins is back with a new project that promises to be a real mind-bender. Longlegs looks set to not only be another impressive entry in Cage’s recent filmography, but one that could very easily continue the current trend of disturbing, dark movies doing really well at the box office. The synopsis of Longlegs reads:
“FBI Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Nic Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”
The latest teaser released by NEON has already set a spine-tingling tone for the film. With its fixed camera angle, viewers find themselves peering through a doorway into a room where the unsettling action unfolds. The eerie atmosphere is amplified by weird, screeching sounds and a crucifix ominously hanging on the wall. The tension escalates when a man, seen frequently looking back at the camera, is attacked by another wielding an ax. The teaser concludes with a woman staring at a wall covered in mysterious symbols, accompanied by the cryptic caption “We’ve been waiting for her,” leaving fans speculating on what other terrifying treats are lurking in the movie. Check out all three teasers below.

NEON’s Marketing of Longlegs Has Wowed the Internet.
From the moment the first eerie teaser for Longlegs was released, NEON has been gaining a lot of praise from fans on social media, and that includes Hollywood star Elijah Wood.
While many studios believe that the best way to sell a movie is to release a three-minute-long summary of the film’s best bits, the first teasers for Longlegs have not prominently featured any of the movie’s star names, nor has it even put the name of the movie on screen.
Instead, the teasers have included flashed codes on screen, that, when arranged in a certain way, have revealed the movie’s name, the phrase Hail to Satan, and the month of July, among other things. Through all of this, the teasers have mostly delivered their biggest chills through soundbites within the flashing images and short moments of unsettling horror. If the movie can pay off its clever and intense marketing, then fans of the genre are going to be in for a treat this summer.
