The season 2 finale of the acclaimed Hulu series The Bear set a notable record that rivals an instant classic from Martin Scorsese. Since premiering in 2022, The Bear has maintained a remarkable level of success among both critics and audiences, taking home six Primetime Emmy Awards at the 2023 ceremony after receiving a total of six nominations. The Bear season 3 is one of the most anticipated new seasons on television although the earliest it would release is likely sometime in 2025.

The Bear is celebrated for its realistic depiction of not only a group of passionate and often conflicting chefs but also a gritty insider look into the lingering effects of developmental and emotional trauma. Jeremy Allen White delivers a career-defining performance as Carmy, a brilliant chef who becomes a martyr for his craft while trying to navigate and heal from the scars of his past. The Bear continues to get better over time and collect its well-deserved awards which also include 3 2024 Golden Globes.

The Bear’s Season 2 Finale Uses The F-Word 124 Times In Only 40 Minutes

Sydney and Richie in The Bear

The Bear’s energized season 2 finale used the F-word 124 times in just a 40-minute runtime, which equates to about 3.1 F-bombs a minute. This doesn’t even include other swear words used throughout the episode, just the F-word and its various derivatives. The most F-bombs in a Martin Scorsese movie is 569 in the 3-hour-long The Wolf of Wall Street, which similarly comes out to an average of 3.1 F-bombs per minute. The Bear being able to match that on television is pretty impressive.

Although there is an excess of swearing and F-bombs in The Bear, particularly in its season 2 finale, it doesn’t distract from the show at all given the nature of the intense dynamics of the behind-the-scenes kitchen environment. Most of the swear words are often mixed into the dialogue for the purpose of displaying the camaraderie between the characters as well as emphasizing the various tasks that the crew has to accomplish throughout the course of the critically acclaimed series.

The Bear’s Constant Swearing Actually Helps Increase Its Accuracy

The high use of profanity in The Bear is also effective in capturing the real-life working environments that are common in actual kitchens. The culture of the food service industry is often portrayed as being one full of adrenaline and stress, which makes the profanity simply a byproduct of the authentic environment. People who work in kitchens have said that the amount of swearing is one of the most accurate parts of The Bear, which will likely be a major component in the eventual highly anticipated third season.
