A new clip from the upcoming MonsterVerse sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire offers our best look yet at the mysterious gauntlet that Kong will wield. The new footage shows Dan Steven and Fala Chen’s characters looking up with some trepidation as Kong straps on his new power glove and roars in the way that only Kong can. Alongside the new clip, an epic new poster for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has also been unveiled, which offers another look at Kong’s gauntlet as he fights alongside a strangely pink Godzilla.
While there are still plenty of questions surrounding the gauntlet, including why Kong needs to wear it in the first place, director Adam Wingard has previously revealed that it is made from Apex Cybernetics. For those unaware, Apex Cybernetics first appeared in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong and is the rival organization to Monarch, the group who have made it their mission to monitor the various titans.
“Though Apex isn’t in this story in a literal way, we kind of hint that Monarch absorbed a lot of the Apex technology after the last film. The glove Kong is wearing, it’s somewhat insinuated that’s Apex technology.”

This new threat comes in the form of the Skar King, a great ape to rival Kong himself, with director Adam Wingard teasing why this latest monster will be such a formidable enemy.
“The Skar King almost represents an upscaled version of the worst parts of humanity, just as Kong represents some of the best parts of humanity…What’s interesting about this new film is that we go in a direction that I don’t think this series has ever seen before, which is that the Skar King is, in a way, the closest that the human threat has ever been juxtaposed onto a titan itself.”
Directed once again by Godzilla vs. Kong’s Adam Wingard, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire stars Rebecca Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong, The Night House), Brian Tyree Henry (Godzilla vs. Kong, Bullet Train), Dan Stevens (Gaslit, Legion, Beauty and the Beast), Kaylee Hottle (Godzilla vs. Kong), Alex Ferns (The Batman, Wrath of Man, Chernobyl) and Fala Chen (Irma Vep, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is now scheduled to be released on March 29, 2024.
