“Road House.” Although this now conjures up images of Jake Gyllenhaal’s new take on the classic Patrick Swayze movie of the ‘80s, for Family Guy fans it brings to mind images of Peter Griffin muttering the words after high-kicking some unfortunate soul into submission. For those people, Bosslogic has you covered with a new parody of the new poster for Gyllenhaal’s remake.

Road House has caused a bit of a stir following the release of its first trailer, with fans crying foul of Amazon, who has chosen to release the movie as a Prime Video streaming exclusive rather than giving it the theatrical release it was originally planned to have. However, none of that really matters when you have the chance to feast your eyes on a live-action iteration of Peter Griffin finally getting to embody the pose of Gyllenhaal’s battered bar bouncer in all his glory.

The original poster of Gyllenhaal arrived last week, and instantly joined the ranks of movie-themed memes circulating the internet. However, this meeting of worlds is one to be treasured by fans of Seth MacFarlane’s series, who called for the artist to take it one step further and turn Gyllenhaal’s costar Connor McGregor into Peter’s chicken nemesis. We wait with baited breath.

Why Road House Is the Best Action Movie of the ‘80s

Often overlooked, we’re showing why Road House is deserving of the best action movie of the 1980s.

Family Guy’s Peter Loves Road House

Family Guy's Peter Griffin with a cartoon version of Patrick Swayze from Road House

Seth MacFarlane is never too far away from bringing classic ‘80s movies to his work in one way or another. From Flash Gordon to Return of the Jedi, Family Guy – and MacFarlane’s other projects – has referenced them all, and Road House had its moment to shine in an episode of season 8, when Peter attends a video shop sale and purchases a copy of the 1989 movie. Not content with just referencing the film, the episode actually recreates one of the scenes from the movie, with Patrick Swayze’s John Dalton getting to it with some truckers.

On watching Dalton sort out his problems with a few roundhouse kicks, Peter decides that this is the best way for him to settle his own disputes. From beating up Brian to invading Charlie Brown’s comic strip world, Peter has continued to administer his own form of violent justice at regular intervals, proudly proclaiming “Road House” after each one.
