Dreaming of exploring Europe on a road trip in 2024? One of the continent’s most stunning routes to drive includes an incredible bridge.
Norway’s Atlantic Road is often thought of as one of the world’s most beautiful drives, offering unbeatable views of the stunning Nordic country’s coastline.
It’s a toll-free road and connects several smaller islands with the mainland via bridges that stretch over the sea.
This isn’t an epic multi-day drive, the road stretches for just over 8km but tourists can add on a boat trip or walk to their itinerary.
A tourist ‘Jules C’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “One of the most beautiful wonders of the earth, a must-visit when in Norway. Very picturesque and scenic views.”
‘Chrissieb94’ wrote: “What a feat of engineering this is! It is a collection of bridges joining numerous islands.”
‘Ge S’ wrote: “Splendid spectacular views on this stretch of road lying between Molde and Kristiansund. It stretched over small islands – just extremely unique road and beautiful.”
While the route is particularly beautiful on a clear day, it’s very dramatic when the weather is stormy.
There are designated stopping points for photos along the way and tourists can even book a snorkelling trip.
Norway’s coastline is one of the longest in the world, making it the ideal road trip destination for sea views.
Road trippers should check weather conditions before attempting the route and make sure they have enough supplies.
