As Superman: Legacy has not even started filming yet, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is already debunking rumors about Clark’s place in the DC Universe.
This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.
Summary
- James Gunn shut down the rumor about Superman’s reduced role in the DC Universe after Superman: Legacy.
- The rumor was that Supergirl would instead take over the focal role primarily given to Superman in DC media.
- There are no concrete reports supporting the claim of Superman having a smaller role in the DC Universe, and Gunn’s rejection of the idea firmly disproves it.
James Gunn is setting the record straight on another ridiculous DC Universe rumor, this time about the future of the Man of Steel after Superman: Legacy.
While the Superman: Legacy cast has not even started filming yet, some DC Universe fans are under the impression that Krypton’s last son will have a reduced role in the franchise after the 2025 movie. Gunn was recently asked by Colby Sims on Threads if the rumor is true that Superman: Legacy will “be used to show us a wider DC Universe but after the film Superman will not be a primary character in the universe going forward and instead that role will go to Supergirl.”
It didn’t take long for Gunn to give the user a short but blunt response, telling them to “quit listening to dumb rumors.” It is unclear where the rumor originated, as there have been no concrete reports about Superman: Legacy giving Clark a smaller role in the DC Universe going forward.
