Bewitched was much more than just one of the most popular TV shows of the 1960s. The sitcom — which chronicled the adventures of whimsical witch Samatha Stevens (Elizabeth Montgomery), her mortal husband Darren (Dick Sargent and Dick York), and their attempts to have a normal suburban life, despite the best efforts of her pushy witch mother Endora (Agnes Moorehead) and Darren’s suspicious boss Larry Tate (David White) — ran for eight seasons on ABC, but has aired for decades in re-runs, continuing to charm viewers and mint new fans to this day.
Given that Bewitched is a part of the lives of almost any TV fan (especially TV fans who’ve logged a lot of hours with Nick at Nite), it’s natural to wonder if any of the cast is still with us. Unfortunately, most of the actors who made Bewitched so magical have passed. Montgomery passed in 1995 due to colon cancer, York died in 1992 due to complications from emphysema, Sargent died from prostate cancer in 1994, White died of a heart attack in 1990, and Moorehead died in 1974 from uterine cancer — she was one of many actors to develop cancer due to exposure to radioactive fallout while making the 1956 film The Conqueror. Bernard Fox, who played Dr. Bombay, passed in 2016 from heart failure, at the age of 89.
