Nancy Pelosi isn’t going anywhere

Earth to exasperated Democrats: You’re not getting rid of “Speaker Emerita” Nancy Pelosi.

Per multiple Post sources, younger Democrats are fed up with being led by an octogenarian multimillionaire who represents everything voters rejected in 2024 — and therefore are trying to loosen Pelosi’s white-knuckle grip on the party.

Good luck with that: Nancy doesn’t cede power; she hoards it.

Notably, even after stepping down as House Democrats’ official leader in 2022, she still reportedly “can’t help herself” from sticking “her hand in every decision” facing their current leader, Hakeem Jeffries.

And she’s certainly not giving up her House seat to any sparky up-and-comers, either — another sore point for the party’s bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, under-80 wing .

She’s already filed the paperwork to run again in 2026.

All this, when Pelosi was the driving force in getting President Joe Biden to step down as Dems’ nominee last year when it became undeniable he’d simply aged too much to have any hope of winning, and would only drag the rest of the party down with him.

As Pelosi herself has pointed out, she’s older than Biden, even if she hasn’t declined as badly (yet).

No matter: Nancy won’t move aside, whether it’s because she has no hobbies to pursue in retirement or because her husband, Paul, doesn’t — and so can’t live without the inside tips that led to the well-timed stock trades that have netted the Pelosis countless millions over her first 20 terms in the House.

After 40 years in “public service,” she has an estimated net worth of $250 million.

That doesn’t look great to voters, either, but Democrats have put up with it all this time (just as they ignored Biden’s family-driven corruption).

And members of Congress face no age limits or term limits; hence such ghoulish scenes as Sen. Dianne Feinstein being wheeled onto the Senate floor at 90 to vote hours before her death in 2023.

Perhaps Pelosi will prove wiser; on the other hand, Dems now have vacancies in two safe seats thanks to older members dying in office.

In this way, at least, politicians are no different than the rest of us — except that their gifts almost always include being excellent liars . . . even to themselves.
