The Traitors Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

Since last week’s episode of The Traitors finished, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Episode 6. It picked up right where we left things in the Traitors Turret. Dan was set on murdering Bergie after he laid hints that the former Big Brother winner could be a Traitor. Phaedra and Parvati were apprehensive about the move, especially since the chances Bergie had a shield were sky-high, but they went along with Dan’s plan as he pleaded for control over the night’s decision. So, was their murder a success? Or was it blocked by a secret shield? Here’s everything that went down on The Traitors Season 2, Episode 6: “Backstab and Betrayal.”

There was no murder in The Traitors Season 2, Episode 6.

Before the Traitors met to discuss who they would murder as a group in the previous episode, Peter set a master plan in motion. He told the entire house that the Faithfuls were keeping the information about who had shields a secret. However, he later told the three players he suspected most of being Traitors (Dan, Parvati, and CT) that he and Janelle had successfully captured the shields. In reality, Bergie and Trishelle had the shields.

Peter hoped one of the three would fall into the trap and that they did.

During breakfast the next day, Bergie was the last to enter the dining room, and there was a mix of emotions. Phaedra was happy her Berg-a-licious was still safe. Parvati couldn’t believe her eyes. And Dan — well, he knew he’d been exposed.

For the Faithfuls, though, they couldn’t have been more excited. “Checkmate,” Peter said during his confessional. “The trap worked. The Traitors took the bait, and now I know at least one Traitor is in that group of Parvati, CT, and Dan.”

Before the group left for the day’s mission, Peter explained to those who weren’t filled in on his ploy why there was no murder. After explaining he “leaked” to a few people that he had a shield even though he didn’t, “the best case scenario just happened this morning when they went for a murder, and the person was actually protected, and obviously, their murder was null and void.”

The other castmates discussed among themselves who received the information, and although CT, Dan, and Parv owned it, they denied sharing it with other people. By now, the writing was on the wall, and the two CBS Traitors knew their backs were against it. However, they both come from cutthroat game shows. Will they be able to survive this?

The mission brings more $$$ to the group

For today’s mission, the cast had to fire a cannonball from Alan Cumming’s catapult. However, to reach the launch site on the other side of a massive hill, the remaining group of celebrities had to follow a map. Along the way, they also had to pick up the pieces to build their contraption once they arrived.

If they can successfully make it to the site, build the catapult, and launch their cannonball in time, they will add $20,000 to the prize pot.

It took some time, but the group reached their final destination after climbing that enormous Scottish hill, crossing a rushing river, fighting for shields, and carrying their catapult’s pieces. Upon arrival, Peter instructed the group on how to build their mechanism. Once it was complete, John pulled the lever and launched the catapult, resulting in a $20K win, bringing the current total to $95,500.

On the way back to the castle, players were separated by cars, and each vehicle discussed who they thought would be the player to be banished tonight. Kate and Shereé felt confident about Parvati. Phaedra, Kevin, and MJ spoke about the likelihood of Dan being a Traitor. As for Dan, he told Peter, Parvati, and Trishelle that although all eyes are on him, he’s not giving up and will have to see “where the chips lay.”

Who is banished in The Traitors Season 2, Episode 6?

Dan Gheesling is the fifth celebrity to be banished from The Traitors Season 2, Episode 6.

Before entering the roundtable to banish another celebrity, Peter gathered many of the show’s Faithfuls to devise a plan for the night’s vote. Because of the mishap with the murder from the previous night, Dan and Parvati were already under the gun. But if you watched Dan on Big Brother — he’s not going down without a fight. The time for him to go after one of his own had arrived.

Immediately after Alan opened the floor for debate, Dan kicked things off. “I’ll say this,” he said. “Since day one, I’ve been watching one person. And it’s time for that to come out.” Dan then went on a “Dan’s Funeral” 2.0-type speech, trying to connect facts that weren’t incriminating at all, like who hasn’t had their name written down and who has thrown out rogue votes.

After calling out Bergie, Shereé, Sandra, and Parvati, he cleared them of being on his radar as Traitors. Then, he zeroed in on his target: Phaedra. Dan explained his reasoning for calling out Phae Phae, saying that after voting to banish Ekin-Su, the next day, she was murdered by poison. He continued, calling out Phaedra for her over-the-top “breakfast reactions,” like consoling Larsa when Marcus was murdered or saying, “Not my Bergalicious,” when they believed Bergie wasn’t coming back at the beginning of the episode.

“So, you’ve been watching me from day one?” Phaedra asked, to which Dan replied, “Yeah.”

“No one’s ever written your name down; why do you think that is?” Dan asked. “No one’s ever written a lot of people’s names down; that doesn’t mean they’re a Traitor,” Phaedra replied.

After asking Phaedra to explain her Ekin-Su vote, she was ready, saying, “I voted for Ekin-Su because of the issues she had with Janelle — because she changed her story.”

Then, when he questioned Phaedra about her reactions during breakfast, dubbing them as “a little bit extra,” Kate came to her defense. “I’m very extra baby,” Phaedra said. “I do too much ’cause you do too little. But tonight, you’re doing way too much because you know you’re getting ready to get banished. So, you’re trying to put the heat on me. Which is a crock of BS.”

Then, Phaedra reminded the group that Dan is a former BB winner. “You have knowledge of this game. So, if there was really a mastermind, it sure wouldn’t be a dolled-up Housewife baby. That would not be it.”

“Let’s not forget, Bergalicious voted for you last night, and who got the murder warrant, Bergalicious. Why? Because Dan thought that he was able to be murdered. Is that not correct?” Phaedra asked.

Whew. Dan, my friend, you just sealed your fate. Did you forget Phaedra was an attorney?

Before the voting began, Peter put out last-minute pitches to the group to remember that he was most confident that Parvati and Dan were Traitors from the three people he had set up. Once the voting began, it was clear that Dan was going home. Peter, of course, voted for Parvati, as the whole episode teased their tense dynamic moving forward with Peter on her trail. Dan voted for Phaedra and left her with a parting message, saying he should’ve “known better than to go up against such an elegant lawyer.”

When Dan stood in the Circle of Truth, he told the rest of the group the truth. “Unfortunately for me, I am a Traitor.”

Phaedra and Parvati recruit a Faithful…

Phaedra and Parvati recruit Peter to be a Traitor in the The Traitors Season 2, Episode 6.

Now that Dan is gone, Phaedra and Parvarti are low on numbers and allowed to recruit a Faithful to join their side. They dabble back and forth, throwing names out there, but they land on Peter. It’s an interesting choice, given he’s the most suspicious of Parv. But could that be to her benefit? Come back next week to see whether or not Peter accepted their invitation to join them in the Traitors Turret.

Stream new episodes of The Traitors on Peacock on Thursdays at 9/8c.

TELL US — ARE YOU SHOCKED DAN WENT HOME? DID YOU THINK HE COULD FLIP THE VOTE ONTO PHAEDRA?
