Genndy Tartakovsky’s Animated Comedy ‘Fixed’ Sets Netflix Streaming Date

Genndy Tartakovsky is headed to Netflix this summer with another animated project made for adults, this time a raunchy R-rated comedy titled Fixed about a dog’s last day before getting neutered. After Warner Bros. scrapped a theatrical release for the film (due to their infamous “cost-saving” strategy), the streaming platform picked up the comedy for a 2025 release date.

According to Netflix, Fixed will be available on the streaming service starting Aug. 13. The film stars Adam Devine, Kathryn Hahn, Idris Elba, Bobby Moynihan, and Fred Armisen. Hailing from the creative voice behind Samurai Jack and Primal, Tartakovsky’s Fixed is a slight departure from his most famous work, but one that will surely entice audiences all the same. The film follows a dog that sets out for one last wild night out with his pals before he is set to get neutered for humping his owner too often. As with most of Tartakovsky’s work, Fixed is a more endearing story than it might sound at first.

‘Coyote vs Acme’ Officially Saved as Release Date Finally Revealed

The movie, which finds Looney Tune Wile E. Coyote suing Acme, was canceled by Warner Bros. in 2023.

Described as a “raunchy-yet-heartwarming” comedy about a dog and his friends, the film was inspired by the director’s own experience with his lifelong friend group. “I have been friends with the same group of four guys since high school. These guys make me laugh like nothing else, so I was thinking, ‘Can I translate this humor to animation?,” Tartakovsky teased. Check out the official plot synopsis below for Fixed:

“What happens when man’s best friend is subject to losing his manhood? In the new adult animation film Fixed, a slick and quick-witted mutt named Bull (voiced by The Out-Laws’ Adam Devine) discovers that his owners plan to neuter him after he’s caught mounting grandma one too many times. Upon this alarming revelation, Bull enlists his loyal neighborhood pals to accompany him on one last untamed all-night adventure, with the mission of proclaiming his love for the show dog next door, Honey (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’s Kathryn Hahn).”

‘Fixed’ Teased as a 2D-Animated Adventure

Like most of Genndy Tartakovsky’s celebrated works, Fixed will be another 2D-animated film that will lean into a “caricatured and exaggerated” visual style that fans of his will immediately recognize. However, judging by the early images, everything will be cranked up a notch to better serve the raunchy R-rated comedy. In his own words, Fixed began as a “rated-R Lady and the Tramp,” but it slowly evolved to having its own unique identity.

“I love caricatured and exaggerated animation, so I knew the sensibility that I like to do and it was a matter of dialing [up] the amount of exaggeration. I think it started out as a rated-R Lady and the Tramp, then as we got into it, it naturally became more cartoon-y and specific to itself. I would say it began to really take shape as we were fortunate to hire some of the best animators working in 2D from around the world.”
