‘Twisted Metal’ Gets Season 2 Release Date on Peacock With Brand-New Images

It’s been almost two long years since Peacock‘s Twisted Metal enthralled fans with its humor, action, and violence, but today is a day to rejoice because it’s been revealed that Season 2 will finally premiere on July 31, 2025. Starring Anthony Mackie as John Doe, the hit series based on the popular video game franchise is set in a post-apocalyptic world and sees his character tasked with traversing a desolate United States to deliver a mysterious package.

Mackie will return for Twisted Metal Season 2, as will Stephanie Beatriz (Quiet), and wrestler Samoa Joe, who will once more portray the deranged clown known as Sweet Tooth, who’s voiced by Will Arnett. Joining the cast this year are a slew of other names, including Anthony Carrigan as Calypso, the creator and host of the Twisted Metal demolition derby tournament. Based on the synopsis and new images (seen below) alone, we already can’t wait to jump right back into the chaotic series, which has become a favorite of many:

“Following the revelations in the season one finale, John and Quiet find themselves entering the deadly TWISTED METAL tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso. As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.”

“The stakes couldn’t be higher as John Doe and Quiet risk their lives to compete in a dangerous demolition derby tournament,” said showrunner and co-creator Michael Jonathan Smith in a statement released today. He would also call Twisted Metal Season 2 a “fast-paced, hysterical, thrilling season with unforgettable characters,” and one in which “not all of them will survive.” How’s that for a hook?

While it’s clear that critics were divided about Twisted Metal Season 1 based on its 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the series was a huge hit with fans, who gave it a whopping 93%. With the news now out there that Season 2 is set to premiere in just three months, many are taking to social media to express their excitement. “This season is about to be next level with Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz! Can’t wait!” said user @shashikumarkr25 on X.

“So excited bro!” added @HomieSanto, who also said that the first season was “some of the best TV” they’d seen. Many others echoed those same sentiments, with fans hyping up the return of not only Mackie, but the appearance of Carrigan as Calypso. A teaser for Twisted Metal Season 2 was also released, which was shared by none other than Samoa Joe (seen below), who said, “Making new friends is great! Especially the ones you’re gonna eviscerate!”

Needless to say, it seems the majority of people definitely can’t wait for Twisted Metal Season 2, and you can count us among them. The first season was a blast to watch, even if you’ve never played the video games. The best part is that this time around there will be 12 episodes instead of 10, and you can binge them all when they hit Peacock on July 31.
