This beautiful little resort – just three hours from London – is perfect for thrillseekers looking for a bit of adventure this winter.
A new study has revealed the best ski resorts in Europe, naming Aleko in Vitosha, Bulgaria as being the ideal location for a trip during the chilly winter period.
The research, conducted by winter sports insurance company SportsCover Direct, looked at eight different metrics including total price for a day ski pass, average star rating, and number of ski lifts.
They also considered the highest elevation, slope lengths, median price of hotels and the number of hotels within 10km to determine the best resorts.
The resorts were then given a rating out of 80, with the average rating found to be 52.9.

Vitosha offers excellent conditions for snow sports, with huge skiing areas and many slopes ranging from green to black.
It starts to snow heavy in December and is stable until late spring, with snow cover reaching an average thickness of 1.5m.
The duration of the skiing season is 120 days and the average temperature of the air is -6C.
In second place, according to the study, is the Straja resort in Hunedoara County, Romania, which a score of 72 out of 80.
