The incredible 6.5-mile beach in cheap country that’s the ‘least crowded in Europe’ | Travel News | Travel

The Beach of Durrës is Albania’s largest and most frequented beach, stretching approximately 6.5 miles along the Adriatic Sea. Despite its popularity, it has been recognised as Europe’s least crowded beach, offering visitors ample space and tranquillity, reports Time Out. A study by Wizz Air analysed over 50 European beaches, considering factors like area and average daily visitors.

The Beach of Durrës claimed top spot – its expansive shoreline provides soft, golden sands and gently sloping, shallow waters, making it ideal for those seeking a relaxing swim. A vibrant promenade runs parallel to the beach, lined with numerous cafes, restaurants, bars and shops.

This lively area is perfect for dining, shopping, and enjoying the beach’s vibrant atmosphere.

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Albania is almost unheard of as a tourist destination. I still wonder why – this country is fabulous, has a nice beach, good hotels, nice food and most importantly, it is cheap.”

In the evenings, the promenade offers beautiful sunset views over the sea, making it a popular spot for leisurely strolls.

For adventure enthusiasts, the Beach of Durrës offers a variety of water sports and activities, including jet skiing, parasailing, boat rides, windsurfing, pedal boats and kayaks.

Visitors can enjoy these activities at their own pace, taking advantage of the beach’s space for tourists to spread themselves out along.

The Beach of Durrës combines natural beauty with modern amenities and has become a popular place for locals to enjoy.

If you are planning a trip and looking for somewhere else to visit in the area, one must see is Durres Castle.

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “The architecture inside is incredible with perfect sound engineered that far back in history.

“They have excellent music upstairs on the roof as you have a wonderful view of the ocean and surrounding Durres. The staff are friendly and inviting.”
