and Cote de Pablo
are reunited on-screen for the first time since October 2013 as Tony and Ziva in the first trailer for their new NCIS spinoff that has fans eagerly anticipating its arrival this Fall. The short teaser comes ahead of the full trailer for the 10-part international series, which will debut on May 5 after the finale of NCIS Season 22.
It was recently revealed that NCIS: Tony & Ziva
will be set in an entirely different timeline from the original series. Instead of taking place in the present, the spin-off will step back into the last decade to help fill in some gaps for viewers. Long-term fans of NCIS will remember when Ziva was presumed dead, and Tony was left to care for their daughter, whom he was entirely unaware existed until that point. This series will document what happened when the pair were finally reunited several years ago. Now fans have their first glimpse of the series, as shared by Entertainment Tonight.
Pablo previously commented on reuniting with Weatherly, teasing the new timeline and explaining why it was needed to tell the story of Tony & Ziva.
“We haven’t seen these characters since 2013 and I think the fans have always wanted to see what happened between them. In our first season, they’re going to get a fix of what has happened.”

LL Cool J’s character, Special Agent Sam Hanna, is back in the NCIS-verse.
Alongside Weatherly, de Pablo and Gie, the NCIS: Tony & Ziva cast includes Lara Rossi (The Watch, Flesh and Bone) as Sophie, Tali’s SAS-trained nanny; Amita Suman (Shadow and Bone) as Claudette, the CTO at Tony’s company; Maximilian Osinski (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Boris, a Russian ex-pat and one of the best/most elusive computer hackers in the world; James D’Arcy (Marvel’s Agent Carter) as Henry, a high-ranking Interpol official who has spent his career chasing international criminals; Nassima Benchicou (ASKIP) as Martine, a former intelligence agent with the Directorate-General for External Security; Julian Ovenden (Bridgerton) as Jonah, a former programmer for the NSA/now Secretary General of Interpol; and Terence Maynard (Ridley) as Dr. Lang, a therapist who treats patients with severe traumas.
‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Is Coming This Fall
NCIS: Tony & Ziva will differ wildly from the premise that fans of the NCIS franchise have grown accustomed to over the last two decades. Paramount+ previously teased that in the series the journey for the popular pair is only just getting started, and that leaves plenty of scope for more stories to be told in the future.
Before both actors left the show, Ziva was forced to fake her death, leaving Tony to care for their daughter on his own. The former lovers may be reunited, but building a life together is not going to be easy by any stretch. The official series synopsis said:
“Where we find them in NCIS: Tony & Ziva — Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”
