The magic of Renegade Nell is headed to Disney+. Today, at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter Press Tour in Los Angeles, the streaming service announced that the new original series, Renegade Nell, will premiere on Friday, March 29. All eight episodes will drop at the same time, so fans can binge-watch all of Season 1. Check out the short synopsis for Renegade Nell below (via a press release):
“Nell Jackson, a quick-witted and courageous young woman, finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th-century England. But when a magical spirit called Billy Blind appears, Nell realizes her destiny is bigger than she ever imagined.”
The action/adventure was created by its writer, Sally Wainwright. Most recently, Wainwright has been wearing a number of hats (creator/writer/producer/director) on the television crime drama, Happy Valley. But Wainwright’s most prolific work remains as a writer on the TV show, Coronation Street.
Renegade Nell Drops on March 29
Ben Taylor (Cuckoo, Catastrophe, Sex Education) serves as the lead director of Renegade Nell. Meanwhile, the titular role, aka Nell Jackson, was won by actress Louisa Harland, whose Love/Hate relationship as Kayleigh began during Season 2 of the crime drama back in 2011. Harland is arguably most well-known for portraying Orla McCool on the teenage sitcom, Derry Girls.
Joining Harland in Renegade Nell are actors Frank Dillane, Alice Kremelberg, Ényì Okoronkwo, Jake Dunn, Bo Bragason, Florence Keen and Nick Mohammed. Joely Richardson ofThe Tudors, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Nip/Tuck fame also appears on the Disney+ series as Lady Eularia Moggerhangar.

Disney creates hit movies, but their streaming service has also made some binge-worthy series that are fit for weekend viewing.
Disney+ has been busy programming for the upcoming spring. In addition, to Renegade Nell, the streaming service reportedly paid a hefty sum for a certain singing sensation’s concert film. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was acquired, and will be available beginning on Friday, March 15. However, this comes at a time when Disney+ also lost 1.3 million subscribers in the final quarter of 2023 (per Variety).
