Gabriel Macht teases his potential return as Harvey Specter in the upcoming Suits spinoff. Given Suits‘ Netfliix dominance in 2023, some sort of revival was always expected. Instead of simply continuing the Pearson Hardman law firm and its core players’ story, however, franchise creator Aaron Korsh opted to expand the universe with the launch of a brand new show set in Los Angeles. As interesting as the world-building is, there’s still interest in the possibility of seeing any familiar face in Suits: LA.
Speaking with THR in light of his reunion with co-star Patrick J. Adams for a special T-Mobile Super Bowl commercial, Macht was asked about possibly returning for the Suits spinoff. Previously, Adams already expressed his desire to revisit his role as Mike Ross in the new show. While Macht isn’t as forthcoming as his desire, he keeps the door open with a reminder that characters can always return in the expanding universe. Read his full quote below:
I mean I think it’s in a world where some characters could in fact come [back].
Macht and Adams recently reunited at the 75th Emmys alongside
Suits
co-stars, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres.
Will Harvey Return For Suits: LA?
Pearson Hardman’s West Coast counterpart in Suits: LA will handle legal entertainment woes. No cast list has been revealed, but the Suits spinoff will center on one main character — Ted, who was once a federal prosecutor from New York. Like Harvey, something happened in his old workplace that led him to leave, and subsequently “reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.” Another character named Erica will also work in the new law firm, although it’s uncertain how prominent they will be.
There are several ways to bring Harvey in Suits: LA, and all of them are fairly easy to do. Firstly, Ted may have a shared history in New York, which is plausible, considering that they once existed in the same space. Because of this, it’s possible that Ted calls Harvey for help. Otherwise, the new firm could simply find a way to do business with Harvey. Since Harvey and Donna moved to Seattle to join Mike and Rachel’s clinic in the Pacific Northwest, it shouldn’t be difficult for any of them to make the trip down to Southern California.
Suits’ Spinoff Is Taking A Major Risk By Removing One Original Show Element
The new Suits spinoff that will be set in Los Angeles will officially move forward on NBC, but it has one risky difference from its hit parent show.
Since Macht appears to be open to the idea, it’s safe to say that he will be more than willing to step into Harvey’s shoes one more time and make a guest appearance in Suits: LA. His appearance will boost interest in the upcoming spinoff, considering that he and Adams are deemed the face of the franchise. Perhaps NBC can stage a proper Suits reunion with the return of Mike as well.
