Megyn Kelly slammed the NFL for foisting “the so-called Black National Anthem” on viewers tuning in to Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday — and added an extra slap over Usher’s halftime show.
The outspoken podcaster took to X after singer Andra Day performed the black hymn, formally known as “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” as part of a game-long diatribe during the Kansas City Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
It “does not belong at the Super Bowl. We already have a National Anthem and it includes EVERYONE,” the former Fox host wrote.
Kelly’s post triggered furious criticism from some commenters, who called it a blatant display of “racism.”
“We’re watching a sport with majority black players. Who decided they should have a voice? Clutch your pearls harder,” one user replied.
“It’s good you’re too stupid to hide your racism,” another said, while a third chimed in: “Sit down, Karen. I’m a Veteran and it doesn’t bother me one bit.”
Others backed Kelly, calling the Black National Anthem “a manufactured push for segregation.”
“The Megyn Kelly Show” host also bashed Usher’s halftime show.
“Not into Usher or this halftime show – however I do appreciate that my kids haven’t had anyone’s vag exposed to them on screen as they innocently wait for the football to start. (Hi J-Lo, Shakira.),” Kelly shared in a subsequent X post.
Though some people agreed, calling Usher’s 13-minute performance “PG,” other onlookers once again clapped back at Kelly, bashing her for her negative commentary on the game.
“Truly can’t fathom being this miserable a person,” one user wrote.
“She’s live tweeting observations about a game she supposedly hates everything about,” another said.
Yet another added: “Girl shut up.”
Kelly also weighed in when the Chiefs’ star tight end Travis Kelce’s emotions bubbled over during the second quarter in a now-viral moment when he could be seen screaming on the sidelines at head coach Andy Reid.
“For we non-football ppl, that was no bueno, correct?” Kelly questioned.

“Every post tonight has been miserable,” an additional user said of Kelly’s posts throughout the night, which also included critiques of the rival teams’ uniform colors.
“I wish the uniforms were more distinct between the teams. I keep thinking the Chiefs are the Niners & vice-versa & it’s messing up my cheering karma,” the SiriusXM host said.
In following posts, she also advised the NFL: “K we don’t need to see Taylor when Travis isn’t doing anything special.”
Kelly also wasn’t amused with Discover’s commercial starring Jennifer Coolidge — which she said “sucked” — though she gave the T-mobile ad featuring Bradley Cooper and his mother and BMW’s spot with Christopher Walken a “thumbs up.”
Overall, the roster of highly anticipated Super Bowl commercials had “absolutely zero risk-taking,” according to Kelly.
“Remember when they used to mildly offend to make us laugh? I miss that,” she added.
Even the final touchdown of the game wasn’t up to par, according to Kelly.
“That was the ending? Felt like it got interrupted with an ad,” Kelly said after the Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman caught the game-ending touchdown in overtime.
The end-of-game post had a user asking Kelly, “How drunk are you right now?,” while another said her commentary throughout the night was “so judgy.”
