Zendaya has turned heads many times at movie premieres, and her arrival at the Dune: Part Two launch in London was one that was even more eye-catching than usual. Thanks to the Spider-Man star’s android-esque ensemble, Star Wars icon C-3PO began trending.
While the actress’ metallic cyborg outfit was also very reminiscent of the iconic robot form of Maria in the 1927 Fritz Lang movie Metropolis, it was Anthony Daniels’ Star Wars character many drew comparison with. Designed by Thierry Mugler, Zendaya certainly stood out among the stars that came out for the premiere of what early reactions have called Denis Villeneuve’s “masterpiece.” However, her choice of outfit did lead to questions of which movie she was promoting. Let the memes begin.
Of course, when promoting an epic sci-fi movie like Dune: Part Two, with its huge cast of screen legends and Oscar-nominees, going all out on this particularly out of this world outfit has meant that despite other big names being in attendance, it is Zendaya who has captured the headlines. Will the attention help drive more people into cinemas to see Dune: Part Two when it is released in a couple of weeks? Everyone involved will hope so, as its success is the only thing that will allow Villeneuve to complete his trilogy.
So far, things are looking very positive for the movie, with several cast members – including the newly confirmed Anya Taylor-Joy – hyping the epic as one of the best movies they have ever seen. Dune did just enough at the box office on its release to make Dune: Part Two fly, and it appears very likely that it is going to do just that later this month.

Having started her movie career in 2013, the last decade has been an astronomical rise to fame for Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman. The 27-year-old found herself getting one of the biggest career boosts imaginable in 2017 when, after just one movie appearance and several TV roles, she was cast as Michelle, aka MJ, in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Homecoming and as Anne Wheeler in Hugh Jackman film The Greatest Showman.
