Summary
- Marrying Citra meant Sam had to convert to Islam, causing tension with his Christian family.
- Citra’s father tried to cancel the wedding due to a Christian pastor officiating.
- Citra’s sister married Sam’s brother, raising suspicions of using Sam for U.S. citizenship.
Marrying Citra might not have been the best decision for 90 Day Fiancé star Sam Wilson as revealed in his season 10 storyline. Sam from Missouri was on the same dating app as Indonesian woman Citra four years ago. Intrigued by his unconventional looks, Citra contacted Sam and the two began chatting online. Sam and Citra weren’t attracted to each other at the start but did become boyfriend and girlfriend within a year of meeting. Sam came clean to Citra about his drug past before he went to see her in Indonesia and asked her to marry him.
Sam had yet to tell Citra and her police officer father, Herman, about how he had missed the deadline to complete the diversion program following his arrest for carrying Suboxone without a prescription. Citra’s father was disappointed in Sam when he learned about it and even thought of taking Citra back home with him. In the end, Herman got Citra to wed Sam and also agreed to get his other daughter to marry Sam’s brother. Herman didn’t seem to be bothered by the events as much as Sam wanted him to be. It appears Sam could have been ignoring the red flags.

Television is being impacted by the ongoing entertainment industry strikes, leaving many turning to reality TV. What are the best shows right now?
Sam Had To Convert To Marry Citra
Sam and Citra decided to get engaged despite them coming from different financial backgrounds. Sam earned the blessings of Citra’s family to marry her after he proposed to her in Indonesia. However, Sam had to convert to Islam before getting married to Citra. Sam’s family was concerned about his decision since he was raised Christian. It would also mean that Sam would not be able to consume some things such as alcohol and pork. These guidelines made Sam aware of the limits he shouldn’t surpass. He got cold feet about converting, but it was out of his love for Citra.
Citra’s Father Tried To Cancel Her & Sam’s Wedding
Sam went through conversion at the mosque with Citra’s father and sisters in attendance. Sam later married Citra at the Mosque, and they looked forward to their American wedding in a farmhouse on a beautiful green pasture. However, Citra’s father was not happy when he found out about a Christian pastor officiating their wedding. “We already did that at the Mosque,” Herman asked. Citra explained that the Iman had been invited, but he couldn’t make it because of short notice. The pastor was the only person available who could legally officiate their wedding.
“I mean, I won’t permit wedding matrimony using a holy book other than the Quran,” Herman insisted. Sam had not even realized that having a Christian pastor was going to be a problem. There was no time, and he couldn’t put the wedding off. Sam had to find someone to marry him to Citra within an hour. Sam gave in to Herman’s demands. He eventually fired his officiant, Pastor Dan, at the wedding ceremony. Thankfully, for Sam, his brother Luke was ordained and had an online license to marry people. Sam got easily manipulated by Citra’s father into doing what he wanted.
Citra’s Sister Is Now Married To Sam’s Brother
In January 2024, Citra announced, via her Instagram, that her sister Nafa was engaged to Sam’s brother Timmy. The two of them met when Nafa came to the U.S. to attend Sam and Citra’s wedding. Citra was supposed to get married to Sam in Indonesia after he came there alone, but the wedding was canceled. “Now they’re in a relationship because I brought my family to come here to meet Sam’s family,” Citra wrote. Sam and Citra recently traveled to her home country with Timmy and Nafa. According to Reddit user u/minivatreni, “Sam’s brother and Citra’s sister got married in Indonesia.”
Is Citra’s Family Using Sam To Get U.S. Citizenship?
Citra lashed out at fans for accusing her sister of being in a relationship with Sam’s brother for a green card. Citra wrote that it’s “not so easy to get ‘a green card’ and bring people to the U.S. legally,” as it requires a lot of money to be spent, and it takes a long time until one can get their happily ever after. Citra claimed that her parents had already planned the future for their daughters by purchasing land in Indonesia. She asked 90 Day Fiancé viewers to stop thinking she was going to bring all her family to America for a green card.
“They don’t want it lmao. They only come here to America to visit me, not planning to live here,” Citra insisted. Viewers now suspect that Sam’s brother and Citra’s sister will be a part of a new spinoff. The wedding has rang alarm bells for some viewers as it could mean that Citra and her family are taking advantage of Sam for a green card. It remains to be seen how Sam and Citra fare in their relationship after 90 Day Fiancé and if Citra really loves Sam as much as he loves her or if she began dating him solely to come to America.
