Ariana Madix has addressed Tom Sandoval’s tone-deaf comments on George Floyd, while Bravo still has yet to say anything. On February 20, a controversial interview with Tom dropped.
In the feature, the Vanderpump Rules star compared the media storm around Scandoval to that of George Floyd’s murder. His comment turned heads and raised eyebrows. He later apologized in one of the least substantive apologies ever posted to social media.
One by one, stars, celebrities, and commentators in the Bravoverse came out of the woodwork to criticize everyone’s favorite narcissist. Now, Ariana has put her hat in the ring.
Ariana suggests Bravo tries to “cover” for Tom
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, when asked about Tom’s comments to NYT, Ariana said, “I was just blown away by how anybody could say something so awful.” The article further detailed how Bravo tried to keep the reporter away from Tom after his comments. Ariana admitted to feeling disturbed by this fact.
“It was interesting how much Bravo was trying to cover for him.” Amy Kaufman of the LA Times suggested it was likely standard practice for a company like Bravo. Ariana disagreed, asking, “Are they doing that right now with me and you?” Kaufman confirmed that no one had monitored her conversations with Ariana, either in person or over text.
Kaufman also discussed the possibility that VPR might be reaching an end, at least in viewers’ minds. To that, Ariana responded, “I always feel like the show thrives when it’s at its most authentic, and if it feels like everyone’s stories have been told, I certainly don’t think it would be wise to just try to drum things up to keep it going.”
With that said Ariana has not envisioned her life after Pump Rules. “The only way I could ever see myself moving away from the show is if I had another job.”
Vanderpump Rules Season 11 continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
